PERSONAL SETTINGS.

To find a mentor, one that will help me get closer to my Goal

as a detective.

To learn the dangers of this job as a police officer understand what it is like to be in the field

before continuing my education and becoming a detective.

WHAT TO INCLUDEBeing that I am in a social media class I will use the skills that I have been taught throughout the semester such as blogging, how to set hashtags on google to update me with any new article about any police academy or information on criminal justice….

OBJECTIVES Find a mentor to help guide me in the right

direction to become a great cop and detective. Go to Washtenaw Community College to join

their police academy and start networking with police officers off campus.

Find online blogs to help me reach a higher power that use social media as a tool.

Find a detective that is in my unit in New York use social media to get to know that person with websites such as linkedin.com

I expect to use the information that I have learned and gained over the course of months to become more educated.

SWOT ANALYSIS

STRENGTH

Leadership: being in JROTC for four years serving as a Command Sergeant Major for two of those years I have learned to humble myself with the criticism. Resources: I actually know one police officer personallyAssets: I have the motivation to do just about anything I put my mind to.Location: I live right across the street from Washtenaw Community College which have one of the best police academies in Michigan.Random: I have great integrity and I will serve my country well either way a police officer or detective. I’m an athlete.I’m committed to doing my job and doing it well.

WEAKNESSESThe only problem that I will have as far as social media is concerned is that I’m a personal blogger vs. a more professional blogger. I also need to learn how to use social media to my advantage. Finances will be one of my weaknesses. I don’t necessarily have a guided mentor which can be a problem in the long run. I don’t know many police officers or detectives to necessarily look up to. I want to be a detective for personal reasons so I will have a hard time learning how to detach my case from my personal life.

OPPORTUNITIES

INTERNET INTERNET INTERNET!!! FIND DIFFERENT BLOGGING SITES FOR DETECTIVES BEFRIEND THEM BECAUSE IN THIS DAY IN AGE ITS ALWAYS ABOUT WHO YOU KNOW. I can always use my online resources to help me get to where I want to go.

Washtenaw Community College police academy.Paid and credited internship at Eastern Michigan University to be a trained police officer.

I consider these opportunities because I could just struggle with trying to figure out exactly how I’m going to get to where I’m going and its up to me to use this to my advantage.

THREATS

The only threats that I have social media wise is some of my online blogging. But I do plan on changing that I just have to get out of the habit. I will make my online profile better.

The fact that I don’t know much about politics. Also the way the economy is might have something to do with my plan not necessarily going through the way that I want and the fact that they don’t have the field in Michigan what I really want to be.

KEY POINT MOTIVATED MOTIVATED MOTIVATED

My personal brand will show that I am a growing student finally realizing that

this is my calling. My employers will take away my passion for my line of work because I always talk about how and

why I want to become what it is I want to become even though I just recently

changed my major.

STRATEGIES I plan on staying at Eastern to do the

Internship here with the EMU police department. If not I will be joining the Washtenaw community college police academy.

Get familiar with more police officers on and off campus. Let them know that I’m interested in becoming a police officer while finding detectives to help me along this process. I know this won’t be easy but I will do what it takes to succeed.

CONT. I will use what I have learned in my

social media class and get my name out their. I will better my online presence.

I will start using linked-in more often. Find a mentor here in Michigan

personally and one in New York where I plan to reside and the only way I will be able to do that is to social network.

TACTICS.

Short term: either do the internship here or join the police academy so I can get a feel of what it is like to be in this area. Continue my education here at Eastern Michigan University with the proper courses to get my degree in Criminal Justice.Long term: Move to New York so that I can work in the exact field that I want which is special Victims. I also will like to become a mentor when I have established my career with high school and first and second year college students.

SUCCESS I will measure my success when I am content with the career that I choose and I’m happy with it. I realized that I’m not doing this for the money but for the joy of serving my country. Another thing that is on my agenda is to guide a student in the right direction and save someone life. That really mean a lot to me. I will use the opportunities that my professor have taught me with my social media and social networking skills. I will consider this success when I have many connections in the world or criminology. The opportunities are very slim considering our economy but I’m willing to take that chance because I know that I will be a great detective in my unit and I will make a difference it have to start somewhere.
