The Treasures of ItalyA consistent part of Italian GDP comes from Tourism. The peninsula has been an important centre of the Wester civilization for two thousand years. Art, culture and history are the main assets of our country. The very same alphabet we all use has its origins in Rome.

PeintureItaly was the European centre of Renaissance at the end of the Middle Age, which recovered, recreated and revaluated the treasures of art of ancient Roman and Greek civilizations. Famous Italian paintings are currently exhibited in the most important museums.

Classical MusicItalian language is the language of opera. Opera singers and musicians from all over the World have to learn some Italian for their work. Italian opera developed from 18th to 20th century. Even today Italian opera singers and orchestra directors are highly apreciated.

Pop MusicPop music is a flourishing industry in Italy. Italian artists have to compete with American and British ones as the market is open and Italians are usually fond of foreign music.

CinemaThe Italian Cinema industry had its best times in the 50s and 60s with neorealism. Now Italians are present in the American Film industry with film directors, wardrobe assistants, set designers, special effects experts, make up artist etc.

TheatreTheatre in Italy was strongly integrated with music in the Opera. But plays have also had an important part, especially in Venetian drama in the 18th century.

LiteratureItalian literature is rich in references to social issues, historic situations and personal introspection. Poetry also has particularly developed. The country's reunification process is realtively recent, dating from the middle of the 19th century. The Italians had been building an unitarian culture and language since then.

SculpturesArtists like Michelangelo, Donatello, Bernini, Canova have left immortal masterpieces behind that are admired by tourists and art lovers from everywhere
