Rescue’s impact on our staff

Through RESCUE project our staff underwent condensed training modules that were given by different experts in Europe, the training was on wide spectrum of themes on how to deal with refugees and IDPs. They are now fully engaged in their work with the refugees and IDPs.

Dissemination and Networking Different Strategies for RESCUE

• Visiting Camps and several meetings with the Refugees and IDPs camp managers was conducted as stakeholders.

• Contacting different national and International Organizations in the Region, like US Consulate in Erbil, American University in Kurdistan, UNHCR, UNICEF, GIZ.

• Several advertisements within different university media.

• Feedback from current refugee students.

• Engagement of different university facilities.


Dissemination and Networking Different Strategies for RESCUE

• Using the authority of the Governorate of Duhok as an associate partner in RESCUE for dissemination and Networking.

• Engagement of the National Immigration and Displacement Directorate in Kurdistan.

• Visiting Local NGOs and other universities like the American University in Kurdistan.

• We produced to mini films in Arabic and Kurdish as invitation to visit the R-SOS unit.

Outcomes

The outcomes of these training modules are:

• Our staff now have adequate knowledge that makes them capable of dealing with any problem that the refugees and IDPs face regarding their education and beyond.

• They can forecast problems for the refugees /IDPs and take preventive measures.

• They can direct the refugees and IDPs and guide them to the relevant place.


R-SOS Unit at UoD


R-SOS Unit at the UoD

The opening ceremony of this service unit was on the 15th of January 2019 since then the R-SOS is fully operating .

The R-SOS unit is located in the Student Center of our university, which is inside the UoD’s main campus, reachable and well known among students.

The R-SOS unit has two comprehensive offices, one for administration and the second for training purposes. They equipped with 17 computers with ups connected to the internet and it has its own server provided by Rescue.

Two printers, big copier machine, 48 inch monitor and video conference facilities. The other furniture were provided by our university as cost sharing.


Sustainability

The University of Duhok is committed to sustain the outcomes of Rescue project through:• The R-SOS two offices are solely assigned to the RESCUE

needs in our comprehensive Students Center.• We have one permanent employee, his full-time job is

dedicated to serve the RESCUE office, and we are in the process of hiring another permanent employee.

• The President of the University always mentions in his public speeches and in different occasions, his commitments to sustain the outcomes of the project and he always highlights the importance of this project.

• The project is mentioned in our university official presentation.
