ON-FARM INPUTS MANAGEMENT
Each farmer needs to be trained and motivated through demonstrations to
manage ecofriendly & cheaper organic inputs on his / her own farm
including:
1. Seeds and planting materials
2. NADEP Compost
3. CPP Compost
4. Vermi Compost
5. Vermi Wash
6. Beejamrit
7. Jeevamrit
8. Liquid bio fertilizer-cum-pesticide,
9. Green Manuring and Crop rotations

CONSTRAINTS IN ON-FARM INPUTS MANAGEMENT
The following are major constraints in On-Farm inputs management:
• Poor or lack of knowledge about eco-friendly On-Farm inputs management
& its significance
• Burning of Manures as fire wood for cooking
• Burning of Manures of crop residue in the fields to clear the fields for next
crop sowing like Paddy, Wheat & Sugarcane straw
• Low land holding and poor farmers
• Due to psychological impact the farmers have become depentent on chemical
inputs
• Lack of research and development activity supported by demonstrative
studies and critical crop stage interventions
PACKAGE OF PRACTCES FOR ORGANIC FARMING
• The Package of Practices designed based on the
climate and regional suitability including On-
Farm inputs management practices, crop rotations
and good agricultural practices is the need of the
hour
RISKS FOR FARMERS IN ORGANIC FARMING
• Decrease in crop yields during initial two years
• No organized market for sale of organic produce
• No higher price for organic produce in
comparison with inorganic produce
RISKS IN THE PROCESS OF ORGANIC FARMING
• Broken border of the organic field with adjoining inorganic
fields
• Drift of chemical pesticide sprays from the neighbouring
inorganic fields
• Soil errosion from the neighbouring inorganic fields
• High use of chemical inputs in neighbour-hood
• Parallel production of organic and inorganic crops
• Storage of organic and inorganic inputs together
• Storage & transport of organic and inorganic produce together
PEST & DISEASES MANAGEMENT IN ORGANIC FARMING
I. Cultural and Mechenical practices:
• Hot water treatment
• Setting seeds in dry dung cakes
• Right time sowing and harvesting
• Crop sanitation
• Crop rotations
• Light traps
• Use of pheromone traps
PEST & DISEASES MANAGEMENT IN ORGANIC FARMING (Contd….)
IV. Use of Bio-pesticides (Micrbials) and Botanical pesticides:
• Trichoderma & Pseudomonas for plant diseases control
• Beauveria, Metarhyzium, Verticillium for insect control
• Neem seed Kernel & Neem Oil products for insect control
• Use of Herbal spray prepared with any one of Neem leaves,
Ipomoea, Lantana, Vitex, Calotropis etc. for insect control
• Use of Nuclear Polihydrosis Virus (NPV) for insect control
PEST & DISEASES MANAGEMENT IN ORGANIC FARMING (Contd….)
IV. Use of Other Cultural Practices:• Better Siol Management- Cover crops, Green
Manuring, apply sufficient quantities of Compost & Inter crops
• Adopt crop rotations
