There are 4 absolutes that we as Christians can have through the Grace of God (the Gift of Christ) and they are: 1- Honesty, 2- Love, 3- Purity, 4- UnselfishnessThe way to attain these absolutes is through a process of surrender to God as our example Jesus did while he was on this earth. He surrendered his divinity for the nature of man in order to be an example as how to overcome sin while in a fallen condition through the strength of his Father, Our God.The 4 absolutes lead us to principles we have to practice through the strength of the Holy Spirit and they are explained to us in the Word of God so that we can overcome the inherent fallen nature we all have. These Spiritual principles are: Surrender, Confession & Repentance, Reconciliation & Restoration, Continual Growth, Sharing & Serving

Expanded they are: Acceptance/Honesty, Hope, Faith, Courage, Integrity, Willingness, Humility, Brotherly Love, Self Discipline, Perseverance, Awareness, Service.

Let Us look into the word to see the order it provides us to overcome. Let us keep in mind the Life of Jesus and how he Practiced all of these principles in all of his affairs.

  • Regeneration

STEP ONE "We admitted we were powerless over sin--that our lives become unmanageable while we are sinning."

    PRINCIPLE = ACCEPTANCE AND HONESTY

SCRIPTURE = ROMANS 7:14-21For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing:for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me I find then law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

    REGENERATION CREDO

We are a fellowship seeking growth and deeper spiritual dimensions in our lives.

We know we can be honest about our shortcomings in an atmosphere of complete trust and confidentiality.

We believe in the regeneration of the whole person; physically, spiritually, socially and mentally.

We believe in the regeneration of successful relationships at home, as well as, in the society in which we live.

We believe that God has a unique plan for our lives and wants us to live abundantly and joyously.

We believe that surrender to Christ can liberate us from the bondage of chemical dependency or similar obsessions that estrange us from God.

We believe in the power of prayer, both individual and corporate, and that our petitions will be answered through Christ.

We believe in the power of community, knowing that there is a strength and source of support in this fellowship that transcends anything attainable on an individual basis.

We believe this program helps reveal the connection between the 12 steps of recovery and our growing relationship with Jesus Christ

    Christ Centered 12 Steps

    1. We admitted we were powerless over our sinful nature, that our lives had become unmanageable.

I know nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. Romans 7:18

    2. Came to believe a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Phillipians 2:13

    3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God - which is your spiritual worship. Romans 12:1

    4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord. Lamentations 3:40

    5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and another human being, the exact nature of our wrongs.

Therefore confess your sins to each other, and pray for each other so that you may be healed. James 5:16

    6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. James 4:10

    7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

    8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.

Do to others as you would have them do to you. Luke 6:31

    9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First, go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23-24

    10. Continued to take personal inventory and, when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.

So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall. 1 Corinithians 10:12

    11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly. Colossians 3:16

    12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry the message to others, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

Brothers if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted Galatians 6:1

    Christ Centered Traditions

    1. Our common welfare should come first. Personal recovery depends upon Regeneration unity.

This tradition recognizes the sense of safety that the unity of Regeneration and its groups provide. Unity is necessary if the members of this fellowship are to be honest and vulnerable, and to take risks leading to healing. Psalm 133 declares this unity is good and pleasant and associates it with Gods blessings. No one persons needs or personality will be allowed to disrupt this unity.

    2. We are guided by and follow only one authority a loving God who manifests himself to us through the Lordship of His son, Jesus Christ and the wisdom of His Words as revealed in the Bible. Our leaders are but trusted servants. They do not govern.

This tradition establishes Christ as the central and ultimate authority in any matter pertaining to the functioning of our Regeneration support groups. Any philosophy taught must be consistent with biblical guidelines. Traditions and principles must reflect the truth of God revealed in scripture.

3 The only requirement for Regeneration membership is a desire to change.

This tradition reflects the unconditional love of God in Christ. We trust God through the Holy Spirit to convict and draw all people to himself through Jesus Christ in His perfect time and way. We seek only to show the kindness and mercy of God to one another. Regeneration is open to all. We become members simply by attending, and deciding for ourselves if we are members. Our common belief is that Jesus Christ is our Highest Power.

    4. Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other groups or Regeneration as a whole.

This tradition places the responsibility to determine and meet the needs of the group in persons who know it best its members. The only restriction on this freedom is that the well-being of Regeneration must take precedence over the interests of any one group. Each group must determine its purpose for meeting and develop its format accordingly. Jesus Christ is our Higher Power, and the Bible our primary text. Thus, we refrain from discussing other philosophies or therapies at our meetings. In respect for our tradition of welcoming any recovering person, neither doctrines of any church nor politics are to be discussed during the meeting time. Jesus Christ and the principles taught in the Bible form the basis of our recovery. Anything that undermines or confuses those principles can be detrimental to Regeneration as a whole.

    5. Each group has but one primary purpose, to carry its message of recovery through Jesus Christ to those who desire a closer relationship with Jesus.. We do this by practicing the Twelve Steps of Regeneration, encouraging and understanding others, and by welcoming and giving comfort to our members.

This tradition calls on us to be single-minded in purpose. Nothing is as important as bearing one anothers burdens and ministering to those who share our struggle and pain. Victory cannot be kept, until it is given away. Our groups carry out this purpose by welcoming newcomers, and by giving love, comfort, and support to anyone who seeks help.

    6. Regeneration groups ought never endorse, finance, or lend the Regeneration name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property, and prestige divert us from our primary spiritual aim.

Experience proves we cannot endorse or lend the Regeneration name to any outside activity or related enterprise, no matter how good

    7. Regeneration groups should be self-supporting and responsible to meet their own financial needs.

It is vital to our own well being and sense of self-esteem and, also, to the well being of the groups, that we assume active responsibility for our group expenses. There are no dues or membership fees for Regeneration, however members are asked to participate in supporting their own group and Regeneration by contributing what they can toward group expenses. This tradition establishes the responsibility of group members to invest in themselves, as well as, in the recovery of others.

    8. Regeneration groups should remain forever non-professional and provide no expertise other than our own experience, strength and hope.

We do not provide treatment, counseling, or any professional advice or expertise to our group members. Professionals may be part of our fellowship, but they do not operate in any capacity other than as group members working on their own recovery. We do not attempt to give insight or advice about what a group member should or should not do in their lives. We simply share our experience, strength, and hope with one another. God may use our experience to speak to others in the group, but it is the listeners responsibility to choose and to carefully discern Gods perfect will for their lives, rather than looking to, asking for, and acting on, the wisdom of imperfect group members.

    9. Regeneration, as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve.

We are a fellowship of equals. Each member is encouraged to participate in group service. We elect, appoint, or ask for volunteers to chair meetings, set out literature, serve as secretary/treasurer, etc. on a rotating basis. Leadership of a group should be associated not with an individual, but with the group conscience as a whole.

    10. Regeneration has no opinion on outside issues; hence the Regeneration name ought never be drawn into public controversy.

This tradition protects the fellowship and its groups from confusion and division. Regeneration brings together people of widely different religious backgrounds, interests, and opinions. Our program is so universal in its appeal that members with diametrically opposing views can still find common ground through the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The survival and spread of Regeneration are our primary aim.

    11. Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion. We need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, TV, and films. We need guard with special care the anonymity of all Regeneration members.

It is important that those who need what Regeneration offers have the opportunity to hear about us. We seek publicity for Regeneration principles, not Regeneration members. Personal anonymity at the public level is the cornerstone of our public relations policy. The Eleventh Tradition is a constant reminder that personal ambition has no place in Regeneration. Each member is an active guardian of our fellowship and the anonymity of our members.

    12. Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions, ever reminding us to place principles above personalities.

This tradition establishes confidentiality in every regard concerning the fellowship and its members. Confidentiality as a tradition, is the basis of trust that makes our program possible. There may be certain members we dislike, and we may be tempted to judge their progress or discount their words. However, if we allow personalities to interfere with our spiritual goals, we cheat ourselves out of important opportunities. We choose a path of personal integrity becoming people who keep confidences, refuse to

gossip and respect the privacy of all our members.

    The Promises

If we are painstaking about this phase of our development, we will be amazed before we are half way through. We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness. We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace. No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others. That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear. We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows. Self-seeking will slip away. Our whole attitudeand outlook upon life will change. Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us. We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us. We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.

Are these extravagant promises? We think not. They are being fulfilled among us, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. They will always materialize if we work for them.

"A Biblically Based Program that Reveals the Connection between the 12 Steps of Recovery and our Growing Relationship with Jesus Christ. The presentation will explain the fundamentals of this Christ Centered 12 step program for family recovery. The discussion will show how the support group network is making real a recognition of need,of powerlessness, and of Gods power to restore and renew us from dysfunctional behavior. The goal is to equip congregations to have a safe, healthy place to begin confronting the denial and issues so prevalent today. The presentation will explain how intensive leadership training and seminars are provided for developing Regeneration groups to be used in conjunction with the local church health ministries. Regeneration establishes a confidential small group forum in which the hurting, unhelped, and unheard may seek the support, love, acceptance, forgiveness and affirmation of others who have been there and understand. The ministries main goal is to lift Jesus up in recovery so that people will be drawn to Him.
