Introduction
• I have created a survey by using “Survey Monkey” relating it to my song that I had chosen, “Daddy” by
Cincere. In the questionnaire I asked audiences about the concept of my video and overall what they think
makes a good music video.
• I made a survey to get feedback from audiences about what they think about my music video and concept
and what they think makes a good music video, from this I can gather information about who my audience
might be.

What the audience think of the music video
The results show that everyone that
filled out my survey found my concept
interesting
This question shows me that the
audience like music videos with adifferent concept than their usual
boyfriend girlfriend storyline, connoting
that the audience want something more
out of life than the boring girlfriend
boyfriend story, for example, they might
want to be very successful in a job.
This will influence my production byproducing a music video with a different
concept than the usual boyfriend girlfriend
storyline, keeping the audience enticed as to
what’s going to happen next in the music
video
They want to be entertained from the music
videos they watch which might make them realise
there’s so many other situations in life which we
don’t usually account for, maybe also connoting
that the audience may appreciate their life , as
they may be more fortunate, for example, they’ve
got their dad

Hoodies, Jeans and trainers A shirt with blazer jeans and trainers
The results from this question shows thatmy audience are maybe of a working class
as the clothes “A shirt with blazer jeans
and trainers” are what working class
people would often wear.
I will use this in my production by ensuring that the
actors costume is stylish enough to attract the audience
yet it is simple enough for the audience to be able to
relate to it, thus the audience can interact with the
actors in the video as they are just like the audience.
This also shows that the audience’s socio
economic grading maybe ranging from B-D forexample graduates or have simple jobs e.g. A
shopkeeper, however from the result of this
question we can also connote that the audience
have an economic power therefore they are
able to afford clothes such as these, for example
they may have part time jobs

Black and white
Neutral colours
The results from this question
shows a 50/50 choice of the sort of
colours to use for the DVD cover
and magazine.
From the denotation of the results we can
connote that there are two types of
audiences. One group of audience aremaybe boring, have planned out there
future precisely, and maybe have a lot of
responsibility thus for the choice “Black
and white”.
The other group of audiences like tohave fun and enjoy themselves, and
just take life as it comes; not to serious
therefore they had chosen “Neutral
colours”
I will use this information in my
production of DVD cover and
magazine by using light(neutral)colours to make it look more
interesting and attract an audience

thought of
These suggestions that I received fromthe audience connote that the
audiences have very different tastes
I would use these in my production of my
music video by amalgamating these ideastogether to attract different audiences but i’m
going to do in a subtle way so it isn't too much

A narrative(A storyline) involving the artist
A narrative without the artist
A perfomance (A dance routine within the music video)
A performance and narrative
A disjucntive (a music video ignoring the song and lyrics;
no meaning or direct link with the song)
Number of people
This connotes that the audience like to watch a
music video that is interesting and fun to watch
I will use these results in my production of my
music video by maybe involving both a
performance and a narrative but do it in a way
that separates them, for example aperformance will finish and merge back into
the storyline

A Prologue
From all of these results about what
audiences feel are the most or least
interesting ,connotes that every audience
has different opinions about what they
enjoy about music videos.
This also connotes what audiences
look for in a music video they might
use it to gain more information
about the life of other people for
example, not having a dad.
I will use these results in my production by
focusing on maybe all aspects that I stated, and
experimenting with them to relate to the song and
give more information about the situation in the
music video and through this I will also be able to
portray the situation in either a negative or
positive way.

A gloomy dull atmosphere
Some scenes filmed in an
alleyway
Some scenes filmed
sitting on a bench
In London
The results show what the audience thinkwould be most interesting for the music video
to be filmed.
The results connote that the audience want
to forget about thier life as for example they
might have a low socio economic grading, thus the reason for why “some scenes filmed
in an alleyway” wasn't chosen. The audience
want to be entertained and while there
watching the music video they want to forget
about reality.
Keeping this in mind, I will try
and use many different
locations, which relate to the
song but also keep the audience
entertained.

MTV You Tube Face Book Through word
of mouth
N u m b e r o f p e o p l e
Where audiences normally find out about new music videos
The denotation of these results
show that audiences find out
about new music videos indifferent ways, either by you
tube or through word of
mouth.
From this data we can connote
that the audience are maybe
between the ages of 14-23 as they
use you tube to find out about
videos connoting that the
audience use a lot of gadgets in
their life to get by for example
phones.
We can also connote that a
group of the audience don’t
make the most of life, and
depend on others to tell them
about new things; they might
be lazy.
I will use my magazine to state the premiere of
the music video as audiences will read it and
spread it by word of mouth. I will also use new
media technology by placing advertisements of
the premiere of my music video on before other
music videos on you tube, also resulting in word
of mouth about the video.

Amount of hours the audience listen to music in a week
The results show that
audiences listen to different
amounts of music in aweek.
The results connote that the audiences
either have a busy life, for example they
have a lot of homework or a very busy
job thus they listen to little music a weekor they have nothing to do, for example
they might be unemployed, therefore
they listen to a lot of music.

Research analysis questions
• By doing this survey, I wanted to find out what the audience think of the concept for my narrative, and
what they mostly like about music videos. From all of this I was able to find out about the type of
demographic that would be attracted to my song and music video.
• I did this by using the site “Survey Monkey” to create my survey. Through this survey I was able to set the
layout for my questions, for example either multiple choice or questions involving the audience ranking
the options in what they think is the most or least interesting.
• I think some of my results are conflicting as for example for question 9, I expected at least some people to
choose the option MTV or Face book as I considered my audience to be of a young age and who use social
networking sites e.g. Face book, and as MTV is a very popular music channel I expected that option to also
be chosen. I was also surprised with question 5, as I expected the audience to choose “A performance and
narrative”. I think the reason for this might have been that the audience are tired of seeing music videos
which always feature a performance and narrative thus they chose either one as they wanted the music
video to be different and more interesting.
• I think overall all these answers will affect my music video production as the answers are very different; all
audiences like different things in a music video, therefore I will try and include a variety of shots andexperiment with the mise-en-scene, costume and lighting to attract an audience but also make sure it
relates to the song and music video.
