Recently,JCIHongKongwonthehostingrightfortheAsiaPacificAreaConferencefor

year2012.Weareallveryexcitedandatthesametimehonouredtohavetheopportunity

towelcomeoverfourthousandpeoplefromtwentytwocountriesinthisannualregional

event.Afterall,itisadreamrealizedsincewehostedtheconferenceinyear1979–over

30yearsago!

TheAsiaPacificAreaConferencewillnotonlyprovideanuniquedevelopmentopportunity

forourmembers,butalsotopromoteHongKongasaninternationalcity.

Over the last nine months, KJC has successfully organized many events as well as

encouragingmembersinparticipatingatdifferentNOMevents.KJCmemberscanbe

2010 National Convention

EverySeptember,JuniorChamberInternationalHongKongholdstheNationalConventionfor

themainpurposesof(a)reviewingtheworkoftheNationalBoardandtheLocalOrganizations,

i.e.thechaptersduringtheyear,(b)electingtheleadersofJCIHKforthefollowingyearand

(c)givingrecognitiontoChaptersandindividualswithoutstandingperformance.

In2010,LionRockJuniorChamberhostedtheeventon24th-26thSeptember. Kowloon

JuniorChamberwasrepresentedbyastrongdelegationof30members,whichaccountedfor

55%ofourmembership.

TheConventionbeganwithanentertainingOpeningCeremony Fridayeveningat Jockey

Club Auditorium, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, followed by a welcoming reception

dinneratPakLokrestaurant.

In the following two days, members participated

in various training sessions, theme seminars and

workshop. All 2011 NOM board candidates

presentedtheirspeechparticularinCaucussession.

The General Assembly is one of the important

sessions,wheremembersoftheNationalBoardand

allchapterPresidentspresentedtheirannualreports

fordiscussionandadoption.Wealsowitnessedthe

electionofour2011NationalExecutiveCommittee.

National President-elect Senator Timmy Lee from

OceanJuniorChamberwontheelection.Andour

President Jackson was also elected as the 2011

NationalVicePresident.

Awards were presented at the gala dinner.

Kowloon Junior Chamber won the merit of the

MostOutstandingLOMAward(45-75members).

TheKowloonJC45thanniversarybanquetwassuccessfullyheldonJuly3rd,2010atHolidayInnGoldenMileHotelandwasattendedby19PastPresidentsofKJC,4overseaschapters,300membersandguestsfromdifferentchaptersandotherorganizations.Wehadanexcellentoverviewofourrichheritageandhistory,togetherwithanimpressiveperformancebyourKJCSuperChoir.

The night also marked another milestone in our internationalaffairs area by signing a friendship pact with the DaeguSuseongJCofKorea.

Itwasaverypassionatenightandforthis,wewouldliketoextendoursinceregratitudetoeveryoneinvolvedinthisevent.

KJC’s“Children’sChineseCalligraphyCompetition

- Thanksgiving Chapter” was successfully held

on 18 July, 2010 at The Metropolis at Hung

Hom. Around200childrenparticipated in this

competition. It was all laughters at our award

ceremonyandeveryonehadagoodtime.

The hard work put forth by our Organizing

Committeeinthepastfewmonthswascertainly

wellworthittoseethesuccessfulexecutiononthe

eventday.Guestsshowedverypositivefeedback

2010 Money Management Award

Hong Kong’s population is growing and aging! The massive

expenseonpublicmedicalcareandsocialwelfarearesoon

tobeoverloaded!The2010MoneyManagementAward

was designed to draw the attention of the younger

generation to these issues and to keep them both

physically and financially healthy. The financial

management proposal competition was launched

withentrantsfrom6localuniversities.Thejudges

chose4winnersfromthesubmissions.

5-Star Training‘Go, go, Goal~ Your Shining JC life!’ was the theme of the ‘5-star

training’ camp in June which I had attened. It was fantastic! The

trainingillustratedthehistoryofJCIHK,itsphilosophy,itsfourareasof

developmentopportunities;beingCommunity,Individual,Businessand

International.ItletmeknowmoreaboutJCIHK.

Apart from making more friends from different chapters of JCIHK, I

hadanopportunitytotakepartintheindividualpresentationsandthe

groupprojectsduringthecamp.Themost impressiveactivitywasthe

‘RehearsalofASPAC2012’.Fivegroupsofushadtodesignthemapof

ASPACandthenbuildupthecorresponding‘model’withpapersand

tape.Duringthegame,I feltthepassionandasenseofbrotherhood

withmyJCIbuddies,forthecomingASPACevent.

Thistwo-daycampreallyofferedmeaplatformtohavefunwithJCIand

buildupthefriendshipwithotherJCIprospectivemembers.Iwouldlike

Reception dinner for Delegates from Ethnic Minority Groups of China

Seven members from KJC, together with other members from NOM and

LOM, have enjoyed a cultural evening in receiving 34 delegates from

differentmunicipalities,provinces,andautonomousregions(includingTibet,

Xiangjiang,InnerMongoliaandGuangxi)fromourmothercountryon2nd

September2010.

FollowingtheopeningspeechesfromJCIHKNationalPresidentGeneTang,

andtherepresentativefromtheChinaYouthUniversityofPoliticalSciences

inBeijing（CYUPS,中國青年政治學院）whichorganisedthisDelegation

toMacauandHongKong,thedinningroomhasimmediatelybeenturned

toamusicexchangesquarewheresongsofMandarinandEnglish,andeven

dialectballadsweresungbyourguestsandtheJaycees,whilstotherswere

enjoyingtheconversationwiththenewfriendsatthetable.

This reception dinner has also given a chance for members to return

hospitalitytotheirtutorsofCYUPSatthetrainingcamp (國情研習班)they

havepreviouslyjoinedthroughJCIHK.

As‘Internationalism’isoneofthefourcoreJCvalues,westronglyencourage

members to actively participate in events organised by the International

AffairsandMainlandAffairsteamtomeetmorefriends,andyoungleaders,
