1. We will continue to supportnew Student AIA chaptersunder our geographical bound-aries. Jon and the board put agreat deal of time and effortinto helping the JJC chapterbecome accredited. We will con-tinue to nurture this relation-ship and engage that studentchapter, while also looking fornew opportunities to createinterest among other studentpopulations.
2. We will sustain our chapterand ensure its health for yearsbeyond my tenure as President.By exploring new sponsorshipopportunities and growing ourmembership, we will makesure all the work that went intostarting and accrediting ourchapter is not wasted.
3. We will explore how we cancollaborate with other AIAchapters. While geographi-cally there are differencesbetween our chapters, profes-sional growth reaches beyondboundaries. In an effort to pro-vide our members with a pro-ductive experience, I believeit’s important to use resourcesavailable within our industry.
4. We will grow our member-ship by nurturing prospec-tive members – starting withgraduating architecture stu-dents. Establishing interestearly in professional life isimperative to long-term mem-bership.
President’s Message...continued
We will educate prospectivemembers of the benefits of join-ing AIA/EIC and the differentmembership levels. It’s myintention to create a pipeline ofprospects at every level ofmembership and make all feelwelcome and motivated to join.
5.We will continue to have capti-vating and practical monthlymeeting sponsor presentations.I appeal to current member-ship to share our continuingeducation credit opportunitieswith those in your network. Ifwe bring guests to our meet-ings, they experience the valuewe’re providing, which ultimatelysecures our future as an organiza-tion with added membership.
Here’s to a productive and suc-cessful 2020! Until Next Time,

Thank you for instilling trust in me as chapter president for the lasttwo years. I am very pleased with the progress we are making withJoliet Junior College. Although they are not an accredited NAAB
school, spreading the knowledge and interest of AIA is something we shouldall support.
One area I know I struggled was increasing member-ship amongst Emerging Processionals (EP’s). Thisstruggle seems to be nationwide as well. If weapproach this issue holistically as a chapter, I knowwe can start gaining interest and ultimately membersat the college graduate age.
I look forward to representingthe Eastern Illinois Chapterthe next four years as Illinois
Council Delegate, and I am excited to see what thefuture holds for our growing chapter. Have a happyand healthy 2020.
