President's Message

AFE Chapter 33 is truly an organization that you can be proud of and one of the most active AFE Chapters in the country. As your President, I am pleased to report that our chapter is quite healthy and continues to attract new members. Your local chapter has a very active Board, to whom I am grateful, who put in countless hours to plan and run our many activities. Get to know them on Page 6.

Our events this year have been well attended, and we have visited several unique and interesting facilities, with more scheduled. In June, we will hold a meeting at Massachusetts Maritime Academy where we will award student scholarships. Without your support, we could not continue this program, and it means a great deal to the students involved, so I want to thank you for helping us continue this program. Come tour Mass Maritime with us in June to and you can meet some of those students. More details on our event on our website and in this issue.

In August, another great project of our chapter, now entering its 7th year, takes place. Our annual golf outing regularly sells out, and is a great way to network with colleagues, make some new contacts and enjoy a day outdoors. It always serves double duty in helping to raise funds for our scholarship program.

You get out of any organization what you put into it, and so we encourage you to attend our tours and presentations and to invite along friends and colleagues. I am sure you will find your involvement quite rewarding, as I have. If you have an idea for an interesting tour or other ways we can help you, please reach out. We are here to help you. I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event.
