Michaël Ruel and Jean Etchepareborde, real estate developers have known how to forge deep links within Mauritius. With more than 20 years of experience in the business of real estate and hotel operation, they like to be at the heart of the action, and lead a strong policy of sponsorship in culture, sports and charity in France as well as in Mauritius. MJ Développement was created in 2007 by these two friends and includes among its shareholders a strong French industrial: Jean-Louis Desjoyaux (CEO of Group Piscines Desjoyaux, world leader in the construction of swimming pools). Following a certain number of leisure travels to Mauritius, the first project was launched in Rivière Noire in 2014: Marguery Exclusive Villas. 40 luxury villas with a private pool and a concierge desk located within a dynamic resort (club house

open all year long). An immediate success. In 2017, MJ Développement starts a new project up North, 10 minutes away from Grand Baie. Mythic Grand Gaube (delivery 2019) is located on a 2.2 ha property, at 550 metres from the beach : 14 villas with their private pool, 12 apartments and 3 penthouses. The main pool provides an amazing panoramic view on Coin de Mire. This success mostly relies on solid relationships with French and Mauritian partners. "Our goal is to do our job differently. decoration comes in noble materials and in shades of sand, khaki, black and white. These sober colours were selected for their purity and brightness. For the Legend Hill project, we have chosen to recreate the spirit of traditional South African Lodges with furniture combining noble and hardy woods and shimmering organic ethnic fabrics, because after all, this is Mauritius, where gentleness is a way of living. Thierry Naïdu was born in Mauritius and arrived in France when he was 10. He grew up "between a kitchen and a hotel". He went to a hotel school in Bordeaux and started his career by replacing his mother at the head of a one-star restaurant. He has always been passionate with gastronomy in hotels and his goal was to manage hotels entirely. That is how he became director of La Chèvre d’Or in 1991. At that time, it was a well-known one-star restaurant with 14 rooms. He wanted to make it a prestigious hotel. He acquired houses in the village to get to 37 rooms. "I did my best to provide international visibility". In 1998, he decided to obtain a second star for La Chèvre d’Or. Two years later, the restaurant got it. Discreet, efficient, attentive, always calm despite the numerous calls coming, Thierry Naïdu applies the philosophy of Phoenix Hotels Collection, a company founded in 2010, dedicated to the management and consulting of luxury hotels. He’s the CEO now. He managed the development of International Luxury Projects, among which the Royal Mansour in Marrakesh, considered as one of the most beautiful hotels in the world, as well as the magnificent Finca Cortesin in Spain.His goals are to share his international experience, to operate in all the different areas of luxury hotels and to bring careful service and integrity.

This chef two stars Michelin will lead the culinary universe of the resort.

Thierry Naïdu will oversee life and activities in the resort. He will be working with MJ Holidays, subsidiary of Groupe MJ Développement (developer and contractor of Legend Hill), dedicated to hotel operation.

Perfection in stars: Executive chef of the restaurants of the hotel La Chèvre d’Or, Arnaud Faye has been immersed in refinement for being starred for over 17 years. His leitmotiv is passion.It all started in his grandfather’s vegetable garden. Arnaud Faye was born in Clermont-Ferrand where he learnt how to work with fine products. "I enjoyed eating any seasonal vegetable. I spent hours playing with toy dishes!". He was a resident at the Chaise Dieu hotel school where he discovered the gastronomy of Paul Bocuse and Bernard Loiseau. He earned his recognition among the stars: from kitchen help to station chef and finally chef. He worked in two-starred and three-starred restaurants: La Pyramide, le Buerehiesel of chef Antoine Westermann, Le Relais with Bernard Loiseau. This is how he became so keen on perfection and discipline and so aware of how to experience flavours. His turn came when he became chef at the Espadon (Ritz Hotel in Paris), where, hardly two years after his arrival, the restaurant got his second star. During the time where the Ritz had to close for works, Arnaud Faye became sous-chef at the Mandarin Oriental, alongside Thierry Marx. He then went to Chantilly at the Auberge du Jeu de Paume.

Six months after his arrival, he received the first star. A year after, he got the second one. Four years later, he joined La Chèvre d’Or. "I had never worked in Southern France. I discovered another way of cooking, by the Mediterranean Sea, flooded by the sun. I have the chance to work with very fine small local producers from Italy, from Nice and all-around Var". An aromatic cooking to enjoy while admiring the sea.
