PRESS KIT Andrea Crews is the precursor of the playful and colorful eco-friendly fashion thanks to its innovative process of upcycling and its streetwear couture style. Its studio-shop in Paris is a meeting and creative place, its collections galvanize Paris Fashion Week and are sold in more than thirty prestigious concept stores worldwive such as colette in Paris, Marios Left Tanker in Tokyo, I.T. in Hong Kong or even Kwin in Seoul. Andrea Crews is also a creative agency that proposes to other brands energetic artistic direction. Its clients are Nike, Lacoste, Uniqlo, Eastpak or My Little Pony to name few. Active figure of the art world, Andrea Crews throws herself as much in the public sphere as in institutions for unique and transverse performances. Inter-artists platform, she federates photographers, designers, video makers, musicians and performes ; its influence network knows no boundaries. Interview with Maroussia Rebecq, founder and creative director of Andrea Crews. Andrea Crews, who is it? what is it? I created Andrea Crews as an alter-ego, someone who both embraces life and stirs it up. A fictional figure in whom we can all recognise ourselves, American or Spanish, super hero or conquistador, Andrea Crews is a superego, free and gene- rous, ready to defy the established order. He or she wears the mask is Andrea Crews. Over the last ten years a joyful army has been recruited, a crazy troupe of actors, a collective project combining atypical physiques that alone we can not hope to possess. Why did you choose fashion? Clothes are an ideal medium. Every day we dress, undress, as much to protect ourselves from the weather as to please others or go to work. Transformation is possible, metamorphosis around and the look is assured. Form is the style that allows us to self-exorcise, and the attitude makes each one of us a catwalk star: anti-fear and laughing out loud. To wear Andrea Crews is to sign up to this unique story. Can you tell us a little bit more about the collections? We have created and presented fifteen collections which are declined in two lines: the streetwear couture line and the han- dicraft line made out of unique upcycled pieces created in our parisian studio. Every season we also do silk scarf collection in collaboration with artists and which are thought as painting to wear. Andrea Crews style is oversize, unisex, colourful and audacious, playing with loud prints, fabrics mix and the hijacking of dress codes. Every collection tells a new story, the next one will be haunted by chimeras and pimped by Photoshop effects. How has the project started? In 2002 at the Palais de Tokyo where Jérôme Sans invited me for a performance in which i used the clothes as a medium. Eleven years after the first recycling workshop, Andrea Crews is a double spiral that energizes our way of living. The An- drea Crews adventure is a collage of brillant colours and brutal images, a constantly moving kaleidoscope. There is no chronology, the frontiers are vague ; what counts is living it.

I created Andrea Crews as an alter-ego, someone who both embraces life and stirs it up. Andrea Crews just opened a new space in the heart of the parisian distric the Marais, at 83 rue de turenne, between art galle-ries and designers boutiques.

The space is modular and versatile: shop, dressing room, mini photo studio, library, chilling space.
