Press Release - Immediate The Word Cup is coming to the North East. Radikal Words is proud to announce it has won a major contract for the Word Cup 2010. During the summer term the WORDCUP 2010 is coming to the North East. The National Campaign is being organised by Apples and Snakes and they have chosen North East based Radikal Words as their regional partner. 10 groups of young people ages 12-16 from all over the North East will be taking part. Each group of young people will have ten half day workshops led by emerging and established poets from the performance poetry circuit. The poets will help the students write and develop their own slam poetry and work with them to produce a performance of their work. This will lead to a regional final at the beginning of July at the Arc in Stockton and the winner of the regional final will take part in the national finals at the Contact Theatre in Manchester. Poetry Slamming is competitive poetry; where the emphasis is on 'good writing', 'good performance' and 'warmth of audience response'. Slamming is exhilarating for the poets, who know that they must be impressive and engaging, performing poems that are relevant to people today. Radikal Words is a new Community Interest Company set up in January 2010 by writers and poets Alfie Crowe, Kate Fox and Jeff Price. The company provides writers, poets and spoken word artists for a broad base of education establishments and community organisations.
