David Yarrow has built an unrivalled reputation for capturing the beauty of the planet’s remote landscapes, cultures and endangered animals. Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1966, he is now an internationally acclaimed fine art photographer and Europe’s best selling wildlife photographer.

He is represented by some of the worlds leading galleries, with his prints selling for up to $60,000 and in America David has shown at the renowned Perot Museum in Dallas and his work is permanently on show at the new Museum of Natural History in Missouri. David’s images are among some of the most sought after pieces of work within the industry.

In the last quarter of 2015, David exhibited his work in three single man shows. Two in Europe; at Kunsthuis Gallery in Amsterdam and a one time only exhibition at the world famous Bührle Museum in Zurich and the final show of the year at Rotella Gallery in New York City.

David puts his understanding of key environmental and geopolitical issues to practical use in his long-term commitment to Tusk Trust Charity as their affiliated photographer and Tusk receive a percentage of sales of David’s prints and books. David has recently signed a global book deal with Rizzoli publishing house in New York, to produce a flagship book named ‘Wild Encounters’ which features work from seven continents, capturing some of the earths most endangered species. He is honoured that HRH the Duke of Cambridge has written the foreword to the book which will be released in October this year and all author royalties from the book will go to Tusk Trust.

Alongside Rizzoli, David will launch the book in a series of events across the world, including exhibitions at Fotografiska in Stockholm, La Photographie Galerie in Brussels, Holden Luntz in Palm Beach and at London’s Saatchi Gallery.

As a lifelong user of Nikon equipment, David is proud to have been named as a Nikon Ambassador. He has put the brand’s products through some of the most gruelling situations imaginable in search of the most transcendent images.

Belgium’s high ranking in the photographic fine art marketplace is well known and for sometime I have been eager to find a strong gallery to represent my work, not just in Brussels, but other art centres such as Antwerp. I am flattered and excited to have been approached by Pascal Young - the principal of La Photographie galerie in Brussels. Over his long and successful career, Pascal has worked with many of the world’s leading photographers - and is respected by artists and collectors alike. He is a man of passion, knowledge and great charm and I look forward to our opening collaboration together at La Photographie Galerie next month. It is a great honour to be have him represent me across Belgium.

Last year, as I was passing the corridors of Photo London, gathering the best of what photography has to offer, I was struck at the sight of a large, biblical scene. It pictured enigmatic dark figures standing amidst a dust cloud through which I could, progressively, make out the most gigantic herd of cows. To a certain extent, I can say this picture, ‘Mankind’, changed the way I look at photography.

But it was not until I finally met David, almost a year later, that I became fully aware of the uniqueness of his work. David constantly challenges himself to make better pictures, and this is how he is able to draw a clear line between wildlife press photography and fine-art photography. Working day and night to get access and put himself in the best position, David enables us to get up close and personal with wild animals and get a feel of their magnetic presence.

Speaking with David, I was immediately convinced by his sparkling eyes and the unique combination of a man of the world with a fearless adventurer, who strives to always come home with the perfect picture. In a way, I see him as a heir of the great English explorers of the 19th century.

I am extremely pleased to have the opportunity to introduce his work to the Belgian audience and I believe his outstanding photographs will completely win them over.
