Frequently Asked Questions RANZCOG Certificate of Women’s Health, RANZCOG Diploma and RANZCOG Advanced Diploma  Q: Am I eligible to apply to the PVP if I have completed my Certificate of Women’s Health (CWH) Written Exam and logbook but I have not gone through the RANZCOG Board for ratification?

A: Yes. On the proviso that you have passed the CWH Written Exam and your logbook has been signed off by the State Chair and assessed at College House as satisfactory. Once the RANZCOG receives your application for enrolment to the Register of Certificants, you may request a Letter of Participation as proof that you have successfully completed all of the assessment and procedural requirements. You can upload your Letter of Participation when you apply to the PVP. Q. I have a 10- or 11-week O&G rotation at an accredited Training site, is that enough time to complete all of the CWH logbook requirements?

A: Whilst there is no minimum period of training for the CWH, it is generally expected that trainees complete a minimum of three (3) months of prospectively approved hospital or practice-based training. All training and assessment requirements must be completed within two (2) years of commencement of training, irrespective of whether training is part-time or full-time. It is up to trainees how they choose to structure their training; however, there is a generous allowable training timeframe of two years from commencement of training to complete all the procedural and assessment requirements. Q: I am completing the DRANZCOG Inc. CWH or DRANZCOG/DRANZCOG Advanced incl. CWH and I have only a few procedures left in my DRANZCOG and/or DRANZCOG Advanced logbook/s before I complete all the requirements. I have also passed all of my exams. Can I still apply?

A: The College encourages you to complete all the requirements in your logbook/s before applying to the PVP as currently each application for enrolment on the Register incurs a cost of $265*. When your logbook has been signed off by your State Chair and assessed at College House as satisfactory, your logbook will be returned to you. Once the RANZCOG receives your application to enrol on the Register, you may request a Letter of Participation as proof that you have successfully completed all of the assessment and procedural requirements. You can then upload your Letter of Participation when you apply to the PVP. * For example: If you finalise your CWH Only qualification and then complete and finalise your DRANZCOG logbook shortly thereafter, you are then required to pay $265 twice, for each separate enrolment to the Register application (Certificant then Diplomate).

Q: I am currently completing the DRANZCOG Including the CWH. I haven’t completed any of the exams or the logbook. Can I still apply to the PVP?

A: No. You will need to pass either the CWH or DRANZCOG written exam and have completed the DRANZCOG logbook (signed off by the State Chair) before applying to the PVP. You can decide to sit the CWH written exam only and complete the logbook. However, if you continue with the DRANZCOG then you will need to sit the DRANZCOG written exam.

Please be aware that finalising your CWH Only qualification by submitting your enrolment to the Register of Certificants application will incur a cost of $265. You are required to pay this amount each time you finalise a qualification. Q: I am completing the DRANZCOG Inc. CWH or DRANZCOG/DRANZCOG Advanced which includes the CWH Training program. Am I eligible to apply for the PVP?

A: Yes, on the proviso that you have completed all the CWH requirements* of the DRANZCOG Inc. CWH logbook, then you are eligible to apply as long as you have passed either the CWH or DRANZCOG Written Exam and your logbook has been signed off by the State Chair and assessed at College House as satisfactory.

Once you have submitted your application for enrolment on the Register of Certificants, you can request a Letter of Participation as proof that you have successfully completed all of the assessment and procedural requirements of the DRANZCOG Inc. CWH. You can use this as proof of completion when you apply to the PVP. *CWH-specific training and assessment requirements: As specified on Page 16 of the CWH, DRANZCOG and DRANZCOG Advanced Training Handbook, which provides a comprehensive overview of the training programs (including consultation numbers) syllabus, etc.

Trainees must consult the relevant regulations detailed in the CWH, DRANZCOG & DRANZCOG Advanced Handbook to ensure they are eligible for certification. Q: I have completed my logbook requirements and passed my exams. When should I send it to the state regional office for sign off by the State Chair?

A: You should send it to your state regional office as soon as you have completed it. Logbooks are signed off by the State Chair in their spare time so it can take up to 6 weeks to be signed off before it is returned to College House for processing. Q: I completed the diploma (DRACOG) prior to 1 August 2011. Subsequently, I completed the DRANZCOG Advanced after 2011. Do I still need to complete the CWH in order to be eligible for the PVP?

A: Yes. As the CWH curriculum was not part of your diploma prior to 1 August 2011 and the DRANZCOG Advanced you completed afterwards did not contain the CWH, you will need to complete the CWH in order to meet the entry requirements of the PVP.

Q: I intend to start the CWH or CWH/DRANZCOG in the next few months. Can I do the PVP at the same time?

A: No. You must complete the CWH as this is the minimum requirement. That is, pass the CWH Written Exam and complete the logbook with sign-off by the State Chair with satisfactory approval from College House. Once you have submitted your application for enrolment on the Register of Certificants, you may request a Letter of Participation as proof that you have successfully completed all the assessment and procedural requirements. You can use this as proof of completion when you apply to the PVP. New Zealand participants  Q: Am I able to obtain the PVP Certificate of Completion before finalising the PGDipOMG?

A: No. In addition to completion of PVP requirements, NZ participants undertaking the PGDipOMG must provide evidence of a satisfactory completion prior to being issued with a PVP Certificate.

General PVP  Q: Is the PVP open for applications all year round? A: Starting from 2020, applications for the PVP will close in line with FRANZCOG National Selection closes on Monday 11 May 2020, 5 pm Melbourne time. Applications for the PVP 2021 cohort will reopen on 1 September 2020. This will allow time to implement changes to the course. Participants who are already enrolled in and still completing the PVP will still have one year to complete the modules and submit certificates for the workshops. Q: is there a deadline or cut-off time to complete the PVP? A: You have one year to complete the PVP. We also advertise cut off times/dates for processing and completing the PVP in line with the closing date of applications for FRANZCOG National Selection, should you wish to download a certificate for this purpose. Dates are usually 7 to 10 days before FRANZCOG National Selection’s applications close. This is to allow time for RANZCOG administrators to assess workshop certificates submitted and for system updates for eLearning modules to occur and ensure certificates are generated by the closing date of applications for FRANZCOG National Selection. Cut off times vary year to year and are advertised on the PVP website around the end of the year. Q: I enrolled in the PVP on 17/9/2018. When do the workshops need to be completed by?

A: Your workshops can’t be more than two years old as of your enrolment date of the PVP. If you enrolled on 17/9/2018, your PVP end date will be 17/9/2019. Therefore, your workshops can’t be more than two years old as of 17/9/2018. (Please note: the guideline for the expiry date of workshops has been changed from the end date of the PVP to the enrolment date of the PVP. Please disregard the previous version of these guidelines). Q: I have completed the approved FRANZCOG workshops as part of the PVP. Do I need to complete those workshops again if I am offered a place in the FRANZCOG Training Program?

A: No. If you are offered a place in the FRANZCOG Training Program, you will be granted an exemption if the workshop or course was completed 2 years prior to entry into the training program (normally 12 months). However, if you completed workshops required by the PVP that aren’t listed as approved FRANZCOG workshops, you will be required to complete those workshops again.

Q: I completed some of the workshops about three years ago. Will they still count towards the PVP?

A: If you have already completed some of the eligible PVP workshops before you enrol in the PVP, RANZCOG will accept these up to two (2) years before the commencement date of the PVP. For example, if you enrol in the PVP on 10 December 2018, any workshops completed within two (2) years, that is, between 10 December 2016 and10 December 2018 will be accepted. Q: I have completed the Advanced Life Support Course (1 or 2). Does this workshop meet the requirement for the Basic Life Support workshop?

A: Yes. The Advanced Life Support Courses meet the PVP requirement for the Basic Life Support course. Q: I am completing the ALSO Part 2 workshop. Does this fulfil the requirement of the Basic Life Support workshop? If so, can I use this workshop for both the Basic Life Support requirement and the Basic Obstetric Skills requirement? A: The short answer is no. ALSO Part 2 meets the Basic Obstetric Skills requirement for PVP but it does not meet the Basic Life Support requirement. In addition, you can’t double dip and claim one workshop for two PVP workshop requirements. Q: Once I complete the PVP, do I hold it for life?

A: Yes. Once you complete the PVP you don’t need to complete it again.
