The advantages of Internet technologies are obvious:

work and system access distributed internationally;

transcending geography and time zones;

low publication and distribution costs and times;

flexible text structuring and navigation (hypertext) etc.

Customers can go to the company's website and gather all the

required content, which can then be ordered as a customized book.

These are just a few of the many possibilities, though

unfortunately they are still too rarely recognized and implemented at

present.

We have started this case study from the idea of customer

demands propagation in industrial products manufacturing.

In this paper is presented a case study based on the membership

to a European research network, VRL-KCiP trough a national network,

INPRO. The connexion with the European network is University

POLITEHNICA of Timioara, which is the coordinator of the national

network INPRO and is also representing Romania in the European

Network.

As opposed to the classical enterprise model, inside a Virtual

Enterprise first we perceive the customers requirements and than the

product design and manufacturing is started, keeping a continuousrelation with the customer.

The technologies, techniques and methods used in Virtual Enterprises

bring to cost, design and manufacturing time reduction, distributiontime reduction and higher customers satisfaction.

The 3D modelling of the product was made in the design department.

The following operation was the finite elements analysis. That helped

as to make a topological optimization of the product in order to

reduce its mass.

The design department delivers information also for the

manufacturing department (2D model of the product) and for theeconomical department (bill of material).
