The quarterly newsletter 2019-20 PRIDE OF VPS SHILPITES SHINE IN THE ‘CANARA KNOWLEDGE CHAMP’ 2019 Students from Vidyashilp Public School, Kondhwa participated in the NATIONAL LEVEL QUIZ COMPETITION “CANARA KNOWLEDGE CHAMP’ 2019, organised by Canara Bank recently at Swami Vivekananda Auditorium MIT University, Kothrud, Pune. 102 Schools participated in the preliminary round out of which 6 teams made it to the final round. The quiz was conducted by India’s top quiz company M/s Greycaps India Pvt Ltd headed by noted quiz master Mr. Giri “Pickbrain” Balasubramaniam and comprised of 5 interactive rounds.Miss EtashaSabnis and Master Danish Hashmi brought laurels to the school by securing the 2nd runners up position in the Quiz. They received medals, trophies and a cash prize of Rs 20,000/-. The participants along with their Mentor Mrs Ashvini Kulkarni were felicitated by the Principal Mrs SahanaArif. IISER SCIENCE EXHIBITION SATURDAY, 16 NOV 2019 Visits to IISER have always been fun with knowledge to the students of our school. This time it was for displaying the talent of two our students, Shruti and Soham at IISER. Trained by Sharmila ma’am and Ashvini ma’am, the two students were a huge favourite with the visitors at the science exhibition. Soham explained Bernoulli’s theorem in a simple way while Shruti intrigued the audience with her math tricks. The students returned enriched with the exposure and experience and are enthusiastic about participating again.     Students from Vidyashilp Public School, Kondhwa participated in the

    IISER SCIENCE EXHIBITION

    SATURDAY, 16 NOV 2019

    Visits to IISER have always been fun

    with knowledge to the students of our school. This time it was for

    displaying the talent of two our students, Shruti and Soham at IISER.

    Trained by Sharmila ma’am and

    Ashvini ma’am, the two students were a huge favourite with the

    visitors at the science exhibition. Soham explained Bernoulli’s theorem

    in a simple way while Shruti intrigued the audience with her math tricks.

    The students returned enriched with

    the exposure and experience and are enthusiastic about participating again.

    SharmileeTotre won the bronze

    medal in the Under 14 Taekwondo organised by District Sports

    Association in September, 2019 held at Late RajaramBhikuPathare School,

    Kharadi, Pune

    Students of Vidyashilp Public School participated in the Under 17 Ashte Do

    (Akhada) held at Bankar English

    Medium School, Hadapsar, Pune on 21st September, 2019.

    BurhanuddinZiya won the Gold medal, Zendan Jacob and Farah Khan

    bagged the Silver Medal and Kaushiki Biswas won the Bronze Medal.

    ShlokTogarge bagged the Bronze Medal in the Under 14 Boys’ 600

    meters Athletic run held at ShivchatrapatiKridaSankul, Balewadi,

    Teacher’s Day 2019

    “It is supreme art of the teachers to awaken the joy in creative

    expression and

    knowledge.”Vidyashilp Public School solemnly celebrated Teacher’s Day

    with great gusto and gaiety on 5th Sept 2019.Students loved preparing

    badges for teachers, decorating stilt area & MP hall. Games were chosen

    so that each teacher can get

    involved and have good time.The day started at 7:30 am with

    assembly which was conducted by students with hilarious school

    headlines for teacher’s appreciation

    day. Students from class X were dressed up as teachers and were

    sent to the classes with the children.Dedication house teachers

    facilitated games organised for the teachers in the MP Hall such as

    advertisement, bollywood songs

    quiz, numbered groups. Light refreshments which were arranged

    by school management.The students felicitated the teachers by

    presenting them a small token of

    love, respect and recognition of the hard work put in by the teachers

    towards their development. Cultural program included songs, dance and

    drama. A small skit was presented

    by student which highlighted efforts

    put by teachers on positive development of students. After that

    all teachers were presented with files made by the students. The

    program concluded with Principal’s

    address.

    LITTLE HALLOS VISIT

    VIDYASHILP PUBLIC SCHOOL

    Halloween was observed at

    Vidyashilp Public School by the Pre-primary students with great

    enthusiasm. These tiny tots were all dressed up in various costumes such

    as witches, superheroes, cartoons, fairies and goblins along with the

    Halloween masks. Excitement was

    seen on the children's faces as they posed for the photographs. They

    also enjoyed the Halloween stamp activity. It was a wonderful

    experience to witness the fun and

    frolic around.

    CHILDREN’S DAY

    Children's Day was celebrated in Vidyashilp public school with great

    joy. The school was decorated with different kinds of colourful hats with

    an inspiring quote written on each.

    All the teachers enthusiastically participated in entertaining the

    children. Teachers performed dances, songs, a humorous play. A

    funny mime act was also presented

    by the teachers. Children enjoyed thoroughly. Many games were

    arranged in the classrooms and on the playground like musical chair,

    tyre race, blindfold walking through cones, penguin dance, tug of war

    and so on. Block painting was

    arranged for the senior students to explore their creativity. Lastly

    children were so happy and thankful when the school treated them with

    the delicious chocolate cupcakes.

    SENIOR SCHOOL ENGLISH

    DEBATE

    The Inter House English debate 2019-20 for classes VIII to X was

    held in two rounds. The qualifying

    round was held on September 4 in two groups. The first group debated

    on the topic, “Artificial Intelligence can work as an absolute replacement for human intelligence.”Students of Discipline House presented their views in support of the topic while

    students of Integrity House spoke against it. The second group debated

    on the topic, “Successful people have higher EQ than IQ.” Students of Team Spirit House debated in support

    of the topic while students of Dedication House presented their

    views against it. Integrity House and Team Spirit House won against their

    respective opponents, in the

    qualifying round. The final round of this year’s English debate was held

    on September 7. The victors of the qualifying round, Integrity House and

    Team Spirit House faced each other on the topic, “Today, India needs more of skilled persons than degree holders”, for the first and second positions in the competition. Integrity

    spoke for the topic while Team Spirit spoke against it. The remaining two

    houses, Dedication and Discipline

    debated on the topic, “Branded schools impart better education”, for the third and fourth positions. At the end of the day, IntegrityHouse was

    the winner, followed by Team Spirit

    as runner up, while Discipline and Dedication stood third and fourth

    respectively. ArchitVedpathak of Integrity House was declared the

    Best Debater – English for the year 2019-20.

    STORY TELLING COMPETITION

    Story-telling competition was

    conducted for the on 10th October 2019. It was very interesting and a

    learning experience for the students.

    It helped the children overcome their fears. The students were keen and

    eager to narrate the stories which had a moral for each one of us. The

    fear of public speaking was overcome and it was pleasant to hear the

    students as they were confident.

    NityaPatil from Team Spirit bagged the first position followed by

    AvneeshGogawale from Integrity house in the 2nd position and

    AnveeBondare from Discipline House

    and AdyaaKhedekar from Team Spirit house in the 3rd and the 4th position

    respectively.

    HINDI DEBATE

    Hindi Debate was conducted for

    Senior School students on 14th October, 2019. The topics for the first

    round were “ͪĤटंमीͫडया गैरज़Ǿरȣ है” forDiscipline House and Team Spirit

    House and ‘मǑुġत ͩकताबे कालĒèत है’ for Integrity House and Dedication

    House. The winners of the elimination

    round- Discipline House and Dedication House debated for and

    against the topic “सहपाǑठयɉ का दबाव

    सकारा×मक पǐरवत[न लाता है” for the 1st and 2nd position and Team Spirit

    House and Discipline House debated

    for and against the topic “लोगो को

    पǐरवार कȧ अपे¢ा ͧमğो से अͬधक लगाव है” forth 3rd and 4th position. Dedication

    House bagged the 1st position followed by Discipline House in the

    2nd position. Integrity House and Team Spirit House were in the 3rd

    and the 4th position respectively.

    HINDI RECITATION

    Hindi poetry recitation was conducted

    on 8th November, 2019 for the

    Primary students from classes II to IV. Students recited the poems in

    Hindi by renowned poets in a very graceful and confident manner. The

    expression and voice intonation

    focussed on, by Puranjeeta Nayak from IV C while reciting the patriotic

    poem ‘मेरादेश’ – received a good round of applause from the judges and the audience. Jinal Shah from

    Dedication House bagged the first position followed by Puranjeeta

    Nayak from Discipline House in the

    2nd position. 3rd position was shared by AsmiGhatul from Discipline House

    and Saksham Thakur from Dedication House. Not only the participants but

    also the students from the audience

    attempted to recite poems.

    "Knowledge is of no value

    unless you put it into practise."

    Keeping this thought in mind, an Inter

    House General Quiz was conducted for 3 different groups.

    1. Primary -Classes II to IV on

    13 November 2019. There were interesting rounds consisting of

    Taboo, The 4 teams consisted of three participants from each

    house. The students were at their best while answering the

    questions in the different

    rounds of the quiz which included identifying the athletes

    and speeches by famous personalities.. Although the

    teams participated actively, the team that scored the most was

    Integrity. The quiz provided an opportunity for the participants

    as well as the non-participants to explore the world beyond

    academics.

    2. Middle school- Classes V-VII Quiz

    on 13th November 2019 with three fervent participants in

    each house who gave tough competition to each other. The

    Quiz was conducted by the Quiz master Mrs FarzanaKausar

    and the scorer was Mrs Ashwini

    Kulkarni,Rules and regulations of the quiz were explained at

    the beginning. It was an interesting quiz with eight –

    rounds including objective questions with Super-heroes

    round, Mission Chandrayan II round, Logo’s round, Know

    your sport,Know your Instrument round, audio-

    visual round, Who am I round, and Rapid fire round, which

    engaged the students for two hours. The students showcased

    their brilliance by rapidly answering the questions.

    Though some of the questions

    were very tricky, the teams

    tried to answer them with

    confidence. Allthe teams participated actively and the

    team that scored the most was Team Spirit House, It was very

    informative and knowledge enriching competition for the

    participants along with the audience.

    3. Senior School- Classes VIII, IX & X

    on 16 Nov 2019 The quiz this year had many ‘firsts’ to its

    credit. It was for the first time that preliminaries were held to

    select the best team from each house. This was also the first

    quiz when there was a ‘buzzer’ round. With the innovative zeal

    of the quiz master Mrs Ashvini Kulkarni and enthusiasm of the

    alumni the quiz show was a great success with students

    yearning for more.The scores

    were changing continuously with every roundandmaking it

    difficult to predict the winner.

    The quiz had questions from myriad topics from cooking to

    railways to politics and the teams knew it all. But as they

    say there has to be only one winner and that was Team

    Spirit house followed closely by Integrity.

    ENGLISH QUIZ

    Primary students participated in the

    English Quiz on 6th November. 2019.

    Team Spirit house bagged the 1st position followed by Discipline House in

    the 2nd position and Integrity and Dedication House in the 3rd and the 4th

    position respectively. Middle School Interhouse English quiz

    competition was held on 6thNovember, 2019. Thestudents from all the four

    houses participated with great enthusiasm. There were 8 rounds in

    total including Literary Awards, Recognize the famous writers of India,

    Synonyms and Antonyms, Name the poets, Meaning of the Metaphor, Identify

    the words to describe different kinds of people, There were rounds for the

    audience in which they actively

    participated and enjoyed giving answers. The result was announced at the end of

    the competition. Team Spirit house was the winner of the competition followed

    by Discipline House in the 2ndposition, Integrity House in the 3rdposition and

    Dedication House in the 4th position. Senior School Interhouse English Quiz

    was held on November 5. The quiz consisted of 9 rounds. The contents of

    these rounds ranged from identifying the correct spelling, filling the gaps with the

    correct word, one word substitution, reading International Phonetic Alphabet

    (IPA), choosing the grammatically correct answer, idioms and phrases,

    poems and poets, synonyms and antonyms, and an audio visual round

    based on books to movies adaptation.

    The winner of the contest was Integrity Housefollowed by Team Spirit House in

    the 2nd position while Discipline House and Dedication House brought up the

    rear with third and fourth positions respectively.

    It was appealed to the gathering to conserve our forests and natural

    heritage, safeguard our monuments and renew our habitats, and to work

    collectively in order to eliminate poverty, illiteracy and inequality with the sense of

    ownership and responsibility to successfully lead the nation ahead.

    The celebration ended with a vote of thanks and distribution of sweets to the

    students, parents, staff, support and office staff.
