• ½ of the sample (pupils: 46%, adults: 55%) takes

3-4 meals a day.

• Only 21% of the adults and 33% of the pupils

have >5 meals and snacks per day. This means

that the majority of the sample skips a significant

number of main meals or snacks.

• 1/5 of the pupils and ¼ of the adults have only 1-2

meals per day. So they skip at least one main meal.

• Most pupils (60%) and adults (48%) have

breakfast every day.

• However, 15% of pupils and 21% of adults have

breakfast very rarely or never. They should be

informed and persuaded about the significance

of breakfast.

• Adults skip breakfast more often than children

in our sample.

• 48% of the adults and 45% of the pupils eat

fruit once or twice a day.

• A quite high percentage of adults (42%) and

pupils (39%) eat fruit 3 times a day or more.

• 10% of adults and 16% of the pupils eat fruit

rarely or never. They should be convinced to

include fruit in their diet.

• 24% of the adults and a quite higher percentage

of pupils (43%) occasionally (sometimes) eat

takeaways and fast food.

• 45% of the adults and 42% of the children eat fast

food very rarely or never.

• 1/3 of the adults and 15% of the pupils eat fast

food very often and they should be advised to

reduce the frequency of fast food consumption.

• The majority of pupils (63%) and adults (79%)

eat meat 1-3 times/week.

• Almost one third of pupils (29%) and only 4%

of adults consume meat rarely (less than

twice/ week).

• The percentage of adults consuming meat 4

times a week or more is 2fold, compared to

pupils (17% vs 4%).

• 4 out of 10 participants in our survey (pupils: 43%,

adults: 41,5%) eat fish about once a week.

• 37% of pupils and 17% of adults eat fish rarely

(less than once a week). They should be advised to

increase the frequency of weekly fish consumption.

• The percentage of adults consuming fish twice a

week or more is twice so high, compared to

pupils (41,5% vs 20%).

• The majority of pupils (51%) and adults (48%)

drink more than 5 glasses of water/day.

• One fourth of pupils (24,5%) and ~1/3 of

adults (35%) drink 4 to 5 glasses of water/day.

• 25% of pupils and 17% of adults drink only 2-3

glasses of water/day.

desserts rarely.

with their eating habits.

• 40% of pupils and 28% of adults are quite

satisfied with their eating habits.

• Only 14% of pupils are not really satisfied with

their eating habits. So they may consider to change

them. The percentage of adults not really satisfied

with their eating habits is significantly higher (41%).
