September 18, 2015 News From The PYP Principal PYP Goal Setting Conferences All parents in the PYP will be receiving information in next week’s communiqué regarding PYP Goal Setting Conferences that begin on Thursday, October 8 (half-day) through the following week of October 13-16. Global Collaboration Day As part of our Global Collaboration Day on Thursday, October 17 the PYP teachers and students have a number of projects happening to celebrate the importance of International Mindedness in the IB. Here is a sample!
GRADE 4 is very excited about the ‘Global Handshake’ they are sending to IB schools in Monterrey, Mexico & Buenos Aires, Argentina for our GLOBAL COLLABORATION. Students wanted to share their ‘sentence’ with the other international students and let them know what Learner Profile Trait and Attitude they most identify with and want to develop. Their sentence began with, ‘I WANT TO BE REMEMBERED FOR…
Grade 1 and PYP Art Grade 1 classes combined their art class with Mrs. Reynolds’ art where they shared their first pictures with San Miguel Mexico! Let the inquiry begin!!
PYP Art has also been participating in International Dot Day…and here’s a picture of the International Dot Tree that is in progress.
Internet Safety Assemblies - September 25 Teachers in the PYP have been conducting Digital Citizenship lessons and we are excited to have a visit from police officer Stieg on Friday, September 25. Officer Stieg will be reinforcing these Digital Citizenship lessons. PYP Assembly

Our first PYP assembly for the month will be on Monday, October 5, All PYP assemblies will be held in the MPH from 8:05am to 8:40am. All PYP (Kindergarten through Grade 5) assemblies will be conducted by students and our first host class will be Mrs. Taylor’s class. Presentations will be made by PYP Student Council, host class activity and PYP Blacksmith Awards. Blacksmith Awards will be awarded at each assembly based on the IB Learner Profile attributes. Parents of students who will be receiving the award will be notified one week prior to the assembly date. All parents are welcome to attend. Sincerely,
