Let me tell you ...what is that special thing you do.

January has been a great start to what promises to be an exciting year. We are on the brink of the opening of Delhi Aerocity. These two hotels will be flagships for the

Lemon Tree Premier and Red Fox Hotels brands. No doubt, we are very excited. Sales has re-geared and prepped themselves for the battle out there. Some

creative work has been done in restructuring the team, defining roles with clear targets and training the team to be ‘tigers’. Our national sales effort is moving in the right direction. And we will make it one of Lemon Tree’s greatest strengths.

To match this national strength, the Central Reservations Center has scaled up and are taking their role very seriously. More people, better processes, a great new office...all make our reservation service faster, more efficient and more profitable. We will tell you how.

Sales A New Order

To get anywhere, you must always have a good strategic sales plan. Success in sales, starts with planning. The Lemon Tree Sales Leadership Team put on their

thinking caps and have developed a great sales growth plan. The Four Pillars

1. Planning Define you ideal customer: The first step in your sales plan, is to formulate a strategy

to acquire new clients and maintain existing ones. What does your ideal corporate client

look like? Analyze them and then define.

Analyze your territory: What territory will your sales team cover? Define your market

geographically. Overlay that with the ideal customer analysis. For example, if your best

clients are manufacturing companies, then that is the segment you are interested in and

you will focus on those geographies.

Know your USP: Your strategic plan should describe not just your products and services,

but your unique selling proposition. Your USP is the thing that sets you apart from your

competition. Our hotels may offer the same set of products and services as our competi-

tor, so why should customer choose us? Give them reasons to believe.

Who is your competition: It is extremely important that you know and understand your

competition. Understanding how competition operates and functions, is critical to the

brand’s success and to the success of the sales team.

Distribution: Realignment of the sales structure to increase market coverage and

optimize the revenue opportunity. Also a sharp focus on RFP business, Travel Trade

Consolidators and business from online channels. These are the big ticket items. 2. People

New sales incentive plan

Introduction of regular reward & recognition schemes

Ranking system for specific roles

Performance Improvement Plan, to drive performance culture 3. Profitability

Central Reservations Center Revving Up

The Central Reservations Center has grown in a phased manner and today com-petes with the best, nationally. At each step, the goal has been to sharply define

processes and train the team to build knowledge for close to 20 hotels, across India. Highlights of CRC today:

24x7 operation located in a prime facility in Gurgaon. Reservations for all 17 Lemon Tree Premier and Lemon Tree Hotels are now

processed at one central location. Red Fox Hotels to migrate soon. State-of-the-art call centre technology solution that enables:

CRM 100% call recording capability Database collection and analysis

A rigorous effort to clean up rate codes and manage profiles effectively, has resulted in an efficient use of Protel. The search time for a query has come down form 5+ minutes to 30 seconds. A great step forward.
