The Princess Theatre is celebrating its 50th Anniversary

this year and we are celebrating in style with a host of

wonderful productions.

We are thrilled to welcome back Calendar Girls! The

cast has now been confirmed, full details of which can

be found on page 11.

Bill Kenwright continues to be an important producer

for us. We have 3 fantastic Bill Kenwright shows this

year, Blood Brothers, Joseph and the Agatha Christie

thriller, Verdict.

Grease also makes a welcome return – can you believe

it will be five years since it’s last visit here?

With so many top quality productions to choose from,

I would strongly recommend getting your family or

friends together and giving the girls in the Group’s

Department a call. We have some fabulous discounts for

group bookings and there are some great rewards for

the group organiser such as up to £7 discount per ticket

for Grease and the organiser comes free!

Thank you once again for all of your support.

Here’s to the next 50 years.

Starring X Factor’s

NIKI EVANSas Mrs Johnstone

Written by Willy Russell, the legendary Blood Brothers tells

the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth,

grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with

tragic consequences. Starring X Factor’s Niki Evans as Mrs Johnstone,

the superb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and

the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.

Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the

multi-award-winning Blood Brothers, and this production,

having recently celebrated its 21st phenomenal year in London,

continues to enjoy standing ovations at every devastating

performance. No wonder Blood Brothers is now

The Award Winning local company Toads Stage Musical

Company, return to the Princess Theatre with their annual

summer musical.

East versus West makes for a dramatic, richly textured and

ultimately uplifting tale of enormous fascination. It is 1862

in Siam when an English widow, Anna Leonowens, and her

young son arrive at the Royal Palace in Bangkok, having been

summoned by the King to serve as tutor to his many children

and wives. The King is largely considered to be a barbarian by

those in the West, and he seeks Anna’s assistance in changing

his image, if not his ways. With both keeping a firm grip on

their respective traditions and values, Anna and the King

grow to understand and, eventually, respect one another, in

a truly unique love story. Along with the dazzling score, the

incomparable Jerome Robbins ballet, The Small House of

Uncle Thomas, is one of the all-time marvels of the musical

stage. Always a firm favourite with the public, the score also

includes I Whistle A Happy Tune, Hello Young Lovers, Getting

To Know You, Something Wonderful and Shall We Dance, and

of course not forgetting all those wonderful children

who play the kings extended family.

‘KEEPS THE SUSPENSE BUZZING TO THE LAST’GAZETTE AND HERALDFollowing huge success, the Agatha Christie Theatre Company, now

in its sixth outstanding year, is proud to present Verdict, the most

riveting and compelling drama by the undisputed ‘Queen of Crime.’

The brilliant Professor Hendryk leads a content and morally

upstanding life, but his world is turned upside-down when the

prospect of life-saving treatment for his invalid wife persuades

him to take on a new pupil against his better judgement; the spoilt,

conniving minx Helen who will stop at nothing to get her way.

With murderous intentions afoot, it only remains to be seen

what verdict will be delivered, and if justice will prevail.

For the first time ever, the West End & Broadway sensation, 2011

Olivier Award winner (Best New Musical) and winner of Best

New Musical Whatsonstage.com Awards, Legally Blonde The

Musical comes to Torquay. Based on the hit movie starring

Reese Witherspoon, this critically acclaimed new musical is

created by a top-of-their-class creative team, led by Tony

Award-winning director and Olivier Award-nominated

choreographer Jerry Mitchell (Hairspray).

College sweetheart and homecoming queen Elle Woods doesn't

take no for an answer. So when her boyfriend, Warner, dumps

her for someone serious, Elle puts down the credit card, hits

the books, and heads for Harvard Law School. Legally Blonde

The Musical will take you from the social whirl of California

Campus life to Harvard's Halls of Justice with the brightest

new heroine (and of course, her Chihuahua, Bruiser).

This all singing, all dancing, feel-good musical comedy will be the

highlight of your year and the most fashionable ticket intown.

The verdict? This much fun shouldn't be legal!
