Dear Warrior Parents and Guardians, As I write this, we’re one day away from the start of Spring Break. This brief but very im- portant pause in our busy schedules always seems to come at just the right time. It allows us the opportunity to catch our breath in the midst of a busy year. It also marks our transition to true end-of-the-year thinking and all that comes about with that. Presently, we’re well into planning for next year’s courses based upon our students’ registra- tions, and we are even getting ready for another summer of classroom updates and various building improvements. All this before our 4 th quarter has officially started! I wish everyone a safe and relaxing break and hope that we all come back with the renewed energy we need to head into the final turn of the year. Finally, please join me in learning about this month’s activities from our fine parent organiza- tions below. They, too, continue to be hard at work supporting our students, staff, and par- ents. Dear Warrior Parents and Guardians,

As I write this, we’re one day away from the start of Spring Break. This brief but very im-

portant pause in our busy schedules always seems to come at just the right time. It allows us

the opportunity to catch our breath in the midst of a busy year. It also marks our transition to

true end-of-the-year thinking and all that comes about with that.

Presently, we’re well into planning for next year’s courses based upon our students’ registra-

tions, and we are even getting ready for another summer of classroom updates and various

building improvements. All this before our 4th quarter has officially started!

I wish everyone a safe and relaxing break and hope that we all come back with the renewed

energy we need to head into the final turn of the year.

Finally, please join me in learning about this month’s activities from our fine parent organiza-

tions below. They, too, continue to be hard at work supporting our students, staff, and par-

ents.

Sincerely,

Chris Dignam

Spring sports are now underway and we wish good luck to all of our spring athletes and their families. Please

remember, the best way for you to support your student athletes is through Booster Club membership,

participating in our fundraising events, and buying Warrior Wear. Here is a list of some of the items that

Booster Club has contributed to the school over the past few years:

Concussion testing for all DHS athletes

A new gymnastics floor

Video scoreboard for the swimming pool

Tennis windscreens

Track timing system

New boys lacrosse helmets

Wrestling mats and clocks

Portable scoring table for all indoor sports

A training room ice machine for all athletes

CSL Leadership Conference attendance for ~70 DHS student athlete attendees (each

year)

Flexible fencing used in softball outfields and for crowd control at other sporting events

Hudl video software for all sports teams and levels

Half the cost of the synthetic turf on Adams Field

$500 senior scholarships for 4 student athletes – 2 boys and 2 girls (each year)

All membership levels include a Family Athletic Pass, which provides admission to all regular season events

(tournaments and state series events are not included). Please visit our website:

https://www.memberplanet.com/dhsboosterclub to purchase your membership.

We are looking for volunteers to become Booster Club board members or committee chairs for the 2016-

17 school year. Please contact David Haas ([email protected]) or Susan Jensen ([email protected]) if you

would like more information or would like to volunteer. It’s a fun way to give back to the school and the

community, and to ensure the safety and enhance the learning environment for your student-athletes.

Please join us at one of our monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm in Room A100.

Please contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions.

GO WARRIORS!!!

News from the Prom After Party -- May 14, 2016 For the past nine years, Deerfield Parent Network has offered seniors and their dates the Prom After Party -- a free, fun and safe event following the formal DHS prom. Last year, more than 430 kids enthusiastically took part at the Sachs Recreational Center. The After Party has been hugely popular thanks in large part to a committed number of DHS parent volunteers. Each year, many of these dedicated parents “graduate” along with their seniors. In order to continue this successful senior tradition for years to come, we need your help! We especially like to have parents of underclassmen so they can experience it before their kids experience it for themselves. The After Party offers parents peace of mind that their teens are safe in a fun, supervised setting with their classmates. Let’s ensure the tradition continues through the class of 2016 and beyond! There are several ways you can you get involved:

Join the After Party Committee

Volunteer the night of the After Party

Contribute cash or prize donations We need your help to support this free, fun, and safe event! To learn more, click here – http://www.deerfieldparentnetwork.org/after-party.html

engraved with your message, and placed at the school entrance of your choice. These are great

tributes to remember your graduate, honor a coach, teacher, club or team. Order your brick now to be

"planted" in the Spring. You choose which school entrance you want your brick to be located

at. Recipients will receive a gift card at your request.

How do you order? Simply complete and mail in the order form, located on-line at the DHS PTO web

page. You can copy the following link into your browser http://www.dhspto.org/DeS/forms.cfm to get

to the PTO Brick tribute form on web page. The order form labeled "Buy a Brick Form" can be found

under the Documents section on the right hand side.

Tribute Cards: Tribute cards are now available! Order them to congratulate a graduating senior or thank a teacher. Provide us with the names and we do all the work! Forms are available on the DHS PTO website.
