Nowra High School ‐ It’s News To Me
Dear parents, carers and families,
Education Week In celebration of Education Week next week we will have a display of work in the library 3rd – 7th August. This year under the COVID-19 restrictions we are “going digital” with a slideshow of photos entitled “Celebrating Diversity” by highlighting the inclusive nature of our Education Programs. All students from all walks of life, cultures and identities are supported and celebrated at Nowra High. When you feel welcome in a learning space and comfortable, you are able to excel in your learning. These photos will also be available to explore on our website photo gallery.
The Trials faced by Year 12 Congratulations to our most senior students who have reached the first hurdle with their Trial HSC exams beginning on Monday and continuing until Friday 14th August.
I ask all other students and staff to respect the needs of our Year 12 students to have a quiet space in which to sit their examinations. The areas around the hall and the school Library will both be considered “Silent Zones” during the exam times over the next two weeks. This means avoid travelling through the space, and if you do need to go through these spaces, keep voices to a whisper.
As we all know, this year our Year 12 students are facing unprecedented challenges. I have every faith in our students’ application to their studies and celebrating their own best efforts within the current climate. Wellbeing and self-care are both crucial elements in a successful HSC journey. Please always take the time to drink plenty of water, take regular relaxing breaks and get enough sleep to ensure that time spent studying in preparation for these exams is most productive.
Hygiene Our most vital weapon against the Corona Virus as a school community is hygiene. Some of us may be feeling a little complacent in the familiar environment of the school and forgetting the new, higher standard of expectation in society.
As each person enters a building in the school they must sanitise their hands each time. Hand washing needs to be thorough as coughs and sneezes spread diseases. Please care for us all by caring for yourself. If anyone feels unwell, you are advised to stay away from school until you have a negative Corona Virus test result.
Crave Cafe The new name of the Nowra High canteen is The Crave Cafe. Congratulations to Tristan Tucker in year 8 who came up with the name. Take a look at our fantastic promotional video. Even Nazza can’t resist all of the delicious healthy snacks on offer!
Kind regards Mr Glen Kingsley Principal
