What’s Inside?

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

Dear An-Noor Parents,

Alhamdulillah for all the bounties Allah (SWT) always bestows on us as a school that our students achieve great successes year after year. It's worth mentioning that our students and staff have made excellent results so far at all levels; Science Fair Canada Wide award, English Speeches, Quran memorization, etc. We are anticipating more great achievements in the EQAO TEST and the upcoming events before we conclude the end of a marvelous and thrilling school year in which our Parent Council completed the installation of the Promethean Boards in all classrooms. These costly interactive smart boards add more teaching and learning opportunities in this digital educational world for all our staff and students alike and put our school in the forefront of having this technology in our classrooms. Here, I'd like to give credit for the PC members who worked hard to make this a reality as well as all those who donated towards this noble cause of preparing our students for future learning technology. Also, as we are getting ready to welcome the holy Month of Ramadan in few weeks. I pray that may Allah (SWT) enable us to witness this blessed month and gain all the rewards of fasting and prayers. We ask Allah, the Almighty to purify our hearts, forgive our sins, and release us and our beloved ones from the hellfire. Finally, I'd like to thank all our staff, students, parents and the Parent Council for all their sincere efforts and diligence they have all showed to make An-Noor School always moving forward to the best of our students, community, and humanity at large.

Masha Allah!! The English speech contest was very successful, Alhamdulillah!! The participants from grades 4-8 spoke about various important topics relating to today’s world. Every participant did an amazing job getting their point across to the audience.

MULTICULTURAL DAY The cultures of the world are celebrated annually at An-Noor School. We encourage students and parents to participate by dressing in ethnic dress (must be Islamically appropriate) and make a traditional dish to be part of our multicultural bake sale. Please make sure that the ingredients are listed on the dish you make. Multicultural Day will be held on Thursday April 18th.

MATHEMATICA The annual Mathematica contest will be written across Canada on April 17th. We hope and pray, in sha Allah that our students perform well.

EQAO Our Grade 3 and 6 students will be writing their tests from May 21st until June 3rd. May Allah SWT grant them the greatest of success.

BASKETBALL The An-Noor Boys and Girls basketball teams enjoyed a great tournament where they showcased their talent and wonderful sportsmanship.

RAMADAN Alhamdulillah we welcome Ramadan tentatively on May 6th. We ask Allah SWT to bless all of us with health, taqwa, and patience during this blessed month.

GRADUATIONS

Grade 8 and SK parents, please mark the dates!!! Grade 8 graduation is set for Thursday, June 13th at 6:00 pm in the school gym. The SK graduation is set for Friday, June 14th at 10:30 am in the school gym. We ask parents to make the necessary arrangements in order to attend and to please make sure their children are on time for the ceremonies.

SCHOLASTICS BOOK FAIR An-Noor held its second book fair this year. Sponsored by Scholastic Canada Inc. These book fairs afford students the opportunity of viewing books before purchase, along with other items of interest. Alhamdulillah, the April Book Fair was a huge success and An-Noor will be receiving a 50% credit back to the school to use for purchases for the school. We would like to extend our appreciation to all those who purchased books.

MATH & LITERACY NIGHT Save the evening!!! Math and Literacy Night will be on Thursday, May 2, 2019. Our teachers and students will be showcasing curriculum activities in their classrooms. The evening will begin at 6:00 pm with a presentation from several classes in the gym, and then you will be free to visit the classrooms of your children, as well as other classrooms. We challenge you to take part in the activities and see if you are smarter than the students of the classrooms you are visiting.

QURAN PROGRAM

The morning tahfeez class will be moving to the afternoon during the month of Ramadan. The class will be held in the massullah from 3:30 pm until 4:30 pm. Dismissal will be from the front office. There will not be any classes in June.

TAHFEEZ PROGRAMS We continue to be blessed with our morning and full day Tahfeez classes. These classes are a blessing to our school and bring much Baraka to An-Noor.

Congratulations to Abderrahmene Naceri for completing his Khatm al Qur’an in Mecca. Jazaka Allah Khair to Sheikh Mohammad Mahmoud for his efforts for teaching Aberrahmene.

An-Noor School and the Tahfeeth Program are proud to inform you of our new lanterns that shine on the sky of Quran. Alhamdulilah with the help of Allah and then the efforts of Sh. Mohammed Abu Ras and Hafith Abdullah Aydid, 3 students join the caravan of Hufath. We ask Allah to keep them steadfast and benefit the community of Windsor in specific and the Ummah at large. PARENT COUNCIL An-Noor Parent Council has been an integral part of the school since its inception. Each year, PC fundraise, put on special activities for the students, and support the school in a multitude of ways. An-Noor would like to thank the Parent Council for their efforts in furnishing our classrooms with the latest in technology. Promethean Boards have been installed in every classroom. Teachers and students are enjoying this technology, which brings the outside world of learning into the classroom. Members of PC have also been busy with the Muslim Hero/Nasheed group. Weekly practices have been run to perfect the club’s nasheed performances. PC, from the bottom of our hearts, Jazakum Allah Khair for everthing!!!

SAFETY PROCEDURES Safety procedures, such as fire drills, tornado warning drills, and now, lock down drills are part of every school environment. It is the job of administration and teachers to make sure our students are always safe and protected. We have recently practiced a Lockdown Safety Procedure. With everything that is happening around the world, we need to be proactive when it comes to the safety and protection of our students.

FUNDRAISER DINNER The Annual An-Noor Fundraising Ramadan dinner will be held on Saturday, May 11th, 2019. Please support this dinner and the school.
