PSSA Girls Soccer Knockout Last Thursday, the school girls soccer team travelled to Leeton, and played Parkview Public School. The team won 3 goals to 1. The scores were level at 1 goal each, at half time. South's first goal, was the result of a fine individual effort by Jerrah Caruso. The team combined well in the second half, and some constructive passing resulted in a second goal to Jerrah Caruso. Caitlyn Saunders sealed the result beyond doubt, with a goal in the final minutes. Parkview had a number of scoring opportunities throughout the match, but were thwarted by sound defence and Winnie Thompson’s excellent goal keeping. Again, the team should be proud of their performance. They supported and encouraged each other and were able to take advantage of opportunities as they presented throughout the game. Each player made a valuable contribution towards the final result. A big thanks to the family members who helped out on the day, with transport and encouraging sideline support during the match. The next match is an away game against Hanwood Public School, in Griffith. Details have yet to be confirmed, but possible dates for this match are Monday, 19th August or Tuesday, 20th August. District Athletics carnival Weather permitting the Deniliquin & District PSSA Athletics Carnival will be held on Monday 12th August at Hardinge St Oval. All South students, who have qualified for the big carnival, have received their information/permission note this week. Notes are due back Monday 5th August. Raffle books are due back by Friday 9th August.

South School Jacket Orders Our P&C are excited to announce we now have school jackets available to purchase to help combat the winter chill. They are a green and gold showerproof nylon taslon outer shell and fully lined on the inside with warm micro fleece and a detachable hood. The jackets are printed with our school logo.

These jackets are not compulsory so we do understand if our year 6 students don’t purchase them as we are half way through the year. If you wish to look at a sample we will have a jacket available at the front office.

The price will be $65 each and can be only purchased through our P&C.

We intend to submit the first order early next week so we can get them back to you ASAP.

If you would like to place an order for a jacket please fill out the order form below, enclose the correct money in an envelope and return to the front office by Friday 1st August.

Deniliquin South Public school was lucky enough to receive a grant from Junior Landcare and Woolsworths. The money received has gone towards the construction of new compost bays and equipment to use in our veggie garden. Special thank you to Cam Clarke for all his time and effort in building our bays.
