Dear Parents,
This past week has been busy here at St. Al’s. Player’s from the UIS Women’s
soccer team came and spent the day with students in P.E. classes, students
caroled at Schnucks and the KC breakfast to support Catholic Education
(thanks to all who attended), we had a food drive for Catholic Charities, we
collected stocking items for homebound parishioners, and more. Such a
busy time of giving to others. Thank you to everyone who helped with any of
these endeavors.
Through the business of the season, which sometimes distracts us from the
reason of the season, we also found time to worship and honor God through
our Monday morning Advent celebrations. You can see them on our Face-
book page at www.facebook.com/st.aloysius.chargers.
Yesterday students in grades 3-8 received the Sacrament of Reconciliation
after our All School Mass. We thank Fr. Clint, Fr. Jim Isaacson, and Fr. Wayne
Stock for coming to serve our students.
We would like to help the people of Taylorville as well. This Friday, students
can have a dress down day for a $2.00 or more donation. All proceeds will
go to aid the city of Taylorville and their recovery from the tornado that
struck their community.

Our students have been on an ADVENT-ure this
Advent season to prepare for Christ’s birth. This
week we watched the Shepherds as they talked
about their jobs to care for the sheep by keeping
them safe and making sure they have food to
eat. The shepherds told the stories of other
shepherds in the Bible such as Moses, Abraham,
and David. They reminded us to be faithful to
God like Abraham and pray like David while we
wait for our Messiah to come. You can view the
Advent skits on the St. Aloysius School Facebook
page. Be on the lookout for the Angel skit next
Monday. All are welcome to join us for the final
two Advent Ceremonies . They will be Monday
Dec. 17 and 8:20 and Friday Dec. 21 at 8:30.
