Principal’s Report Continued

Kindergarten Orientation Our first Kindergarten 2020 Orientation session was held on Tuesday. There were many excited (and at

times) nervous faces to be seen. It was a lovely session, and another great example of the warm and

generous spirit that defines the school community at Asquith Public School. Once again our choir, this time

our Junior Choir, were on display and performed for the parents under the direction of Mrs Clift.

External Validation On Tuesday, our school went through the final process of External Validation. A panel that included, Mr Ken

Smith (Principal School Leadership), and Ms Louise Wrightson (Peer Principal) visited our school to validate

evidence of our achievements against the School Excellence Framework. The seven evidence sets presented

are a testament to the dedication and outstanding work of staff, community and students. The panellists

specifically acknowledged and commended the staff on the passion, knowledge and commitment they have

to evidence-based practices that promote quality teaching and learning programs. The entire validation

process has given us clear direction and goals as we shape our 2020 School Plan.

Thank you to the following staff who have led the External Validation project teams and authored our rich and

detailed sets of supporting evidence with their colleagues:

Mrs Carlos, Ms Crawford, Mrs Elmes, Mrs Fitzgerald, Ms Piccolo, Mrs McIntosh and Mr Yu.

Anti-Bullying The NSW Department of Education and Asquith Public School are committed to working with students and

families to help stop bullying. The Department’s Anti-bullying strategy uses evidence-based research to

support educators, parents and carers, and students to identify, prevent and respond effectively to student

bullying behaviours. One of the initiatives is the development of the NSW anti-bullying website. To help make

this site even better and hear your thoughts about student bullying, the Department is asking you to complete

a quick survey. It is completely anonymous, and you and Asquith PS will not be identified. If you have a few

minutes to spare click on this link: NSW Anti-bullying survey.

Options for girl’s summer uniform Make sure you complete the survey (if you have not already done so), giving us your opinion on summer

uniform options for girls. Your voice is important. You will find the survey link further in this newsletter.

Planning for 2020 At this time of the year, we are beginning to plan for 2020. If your child/ren will be leaving Asquith PS in 2020, or will be on holidays in the first days of Term 1, we need to know as soon as possible. Please fill in the attached form or phone the school office. Accurate student numbers will help us plan the most appropriate structures and organisation.

Which notes have been sent home this fortnight? If you are missing any of these notes, or you need another copy, you will find them in the notes section on the school website. Hard copy notes are provided to families, and Skoolbag is used for updates and informal information. Please remember to subscribe to the Skoolbag app or check the school website for school communication. Skoolbag requires families to subscribe each group, eg. Choir, Dance, Stage 2 as appropriate for your child’s activities and learning needs.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE

Have Your Say on Before and After School Care

The NSW Government is committed to providing before and after school care to all students of public primary schools in New South Wales. As part of the reform, a parent web form has been established by Service NSW that will enable parents to tell the department about their specific care needs and to stay up to date with any new developments.

The information provided by parents will help the Department of Education to understand your needs, give them insights into where there are gaps in service delivery and help to ensure the extra places are delivered where they are required.

Have you say today at https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/basc.
