We decided to use part of this image as the background for the contents page. This print screen is showing us, highlighting a section of the image. We then copied and pasted onto a new layer.

Once we had created a new layer. We decided to add a filter affect. We did this by going to the filter icon at the top of the screen.

We then chose the diffuse glow affect. We then changed the appearance by taking out the glow affect and changing the graininess of the image. We changed these affects by using the icon on the right hand side. We decided that this had a good affect as it was bright and would attract people’s attention.

We then made a new layer by going to layer, new layer. We then highlighted the text icon, so we could create the title. We used the font “Papyrus”. We used the font size 36 so that is was big and bold and would stand out. We used a deep green colour as we felt that it reflected the schools colour scheme very well. It also it stood out from the background and made it easier to read.

We decided that we would use a smaller font for the page numbers, so that there was a difference from the page’s title. For the numbers we used “Papyrus” font, and we choose the font size 9. We used the same green colour so the writing matched.

For the writing we used the same font “Papyrus”; however we used the font size of 14. We did this so that it was different from the title and numbers. We felt that this might help attract the reader’s eye, as there was a difference in size.

We used the same font for all the page titles. We used capitals on GCSE’S as we felt there is a great sense of importance surrounding these exams, and the capitals helped show this. Also we did not use a number to advertise the parenting guide as it is meant to be a bonus article. Because of this we used the word “Plus”.

We feel the background helps maintain the school atmosphere and helps keep a serious tone. This is because it is a real image and makes the whole atmosphere feel believable.
