The Atom/Bantam House tournament committee welcomes all teams to our Eighth Annual Debbie Cooper Memorial Tournament! This tournament has been organ-ized and dedicated to Debbie, in memory of all that she was and did for our asso-ciation and for the kids. With Debbie it was always all about the kids first, and that has been the focus of this tournament! We want all the players to enjoy themselves this weekend and remember that this tournament is enabling several other children to play Hockey and other sports with the donation we will be making with proceeds to Kidsport Victoria and Sport Assist in Deb's name! This tournament would not have been possible without the incredible support of our association, many volunteers, and community support. Thank you to everybody who helped make this weekend possible, Deb would be very proud of us!

The Juan de Fuca Minor Hockey Association said goodbye to a very important part of the Association on November 11

th 2009.

Debbie Rand Cooper passed away suddenly on November 4th

2009. The loss of this tireless volunteer has left many holes in both the association and the hearts of all who knew her. “The Ice Queen” or “Social Director” as she was fondly known was an intri-cate part of JDF.

Deb put in hundreds of hours every season with all aspects of the association. Every coach and manager had Debbie on speed dial and she answered each question with a cheerful response. It was all about the kids for Deb and she made sure that every player’s best interest was taken care of. The Atom and Bantam House Teams would like to dedicate this Tournament to Debbie because of the im-pact she has had on their lives on and off the ice.

TOURNAMENT Rules

General – BCAHA and VIAHA guidelines/rules apply. Sportsmanship – JDF Minor Hockey Association, VIAHA and BCAHA stress good sportsmanship. Fighting, abusive language/behavior, or unsportsmanlike conduct exhibited by players, coaches or parents will not be tolerated on or off the ice. Such conduct will be grounds for disqualification of in-dividuals and / or teams from the tournament. Referees have on ice control and have the authority to direct the removal of any person acting in an objectionable manner. Referees have the authority to end any game deemed to endanger players. The Tournament Director supports all referees’ deci-sions. In conjunction, the tournament director or controller present may authorize any member of the host association to remove any parent, player, or coach that is acting in an unsportsmanlike manner. It will be the decision of the tournament director to allow re-entry to the tournament.

TEAMS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR LEAVING THEIR CHANGE ROOMS CLEAN AND IN GOOD CONDITION AFTER USING THEM. WESTSHORE STAFF AND TOURNAMENT STAFF WILL CHECK THE ROOMS AFTER EACH TEAM. IF ANY TEAM HAS LEFT THE ROOM IN UNSATIS-FACTORY CONDITION, THAT TEAM WILL BE SUBJECT TO A $100 FINE. IN THE EVENT THE ROOMS ARE DAMAGED BEYOND THE $100.00, AN ADDITIONAL FINE WILL BE CHARGED TO THE TEAM RESPONSIBLE.

Length of games – Game slots are 1 hour and 20 minutes long (except Gold medal game - 2hour game slot will allow a full game and OT if needed - still 15-15-20): *Line up players quickly Saturday & Sunday for handshake/Digger/Sportsmanship & pizza/donut shootout • 2-15 minutes stopped time periods and the third period of 20 minutes stop time • 3-minute warm up time • 2-minute break between periods • ATOM 6-minutes at end of game for handshake/awards (Digger/Sportsman) & pizza/donut

HOCKEY RULING. • Number of Coaches on bench – No more than 4 people, other than dressed players are permit-

ted on each team bench. All coaches, individuals on the bench must be registered / rostered to that team.

• Jerseys – The home team wears light color jerseys and the visiting team will wear dark color jerseys. If a team has only one (1) set of jerseys and it is similar in color or same as the oppo-nent, then the other team can wear its alternate color.

• Equipment – All players must adhere to BCAHA Hockey rules and regulations. Players will be removed if they are not properly dressed for games.

• Protest – No protests! • Forfeiture – Any team forfeiting a game will be automatically eliminated from further game play.

In the event that two or more teams have an equal number of points following the initial tiering Round, the following formula will be used to determine a winner: 1. Most wins in Division Round Robin 2. Head to Head (Does not apply to ties of more than two teams) 3. Lowest number of goals against in all games. 4. Least amount of total penalty minutes in all games. 5. Coin toss Semi Finals Tiebreaker: 5-man shoot-out. Sheets to be *starred* with 5 shooters at the start of the Semi game Final game Tiebreaker: 5 minutes OT 3 on 3, then 5 man shoot-out. Sheets to be *starred* with the 5 shooters at the start of the Final game No shooter can shoot again until teams have gone through their entire roster of players.
