12 June 2020
Dear Parents,We have had another exciting week at Priory Primary School!
Many of our Year 6s are back working hard, for two days a week now, enjoying seeing their friends, working hard in class and getting skilled up for transition
to their secondary schools.
We were so happy to see our Nursery and Reception children – and they were pleased to be back! Miss Morgan and Mr Walsh noticed how well they settled back into class and quickly remembered their routines. I would like to say a big thank you to all the children in school, and all the adults, who have been calm
and sensible in keeping a safe distance, washing hands and finding safe ways to go about our normal lives.
In this newsletter, we are celebrating the learning that has happened at home and in school. Just before we do that, can we please remind you to draw your
pictures to help connect us. Please make a picture of YOU with your hands stretched out – so that each picture holds hands with the next.
WE WILL SOON HAVE A BRIGHT RED COLLECTING BOX OUTSIDE SCHOOLPLEASE DELIVER YOUR PICTURE BY FRIDAY 19TH JUNE (DEADLINE EXTENDED)
Keep up the hard work in school and at home – keep connected to your teacher – slowly but surely we will see you all again soon.
Mrs Fraser
IN SCHOOL LEARNING
Well done from Miss Morgan, Miss Green, Miss Lyn and Mrs Begum, to all the Nursery children who returned this week. A special mention goes to Niveen who amazed Miss Morgan by counting backwards from 20 while washing her hands.
In Reception Class some children created their very own Pokemon. Mr Walsh tells us: “We battled them against each other and used our Maths skills to
subtract the damage from our health.” Here are the Pokemon created by Kavi, Jack and Ibrahim. Jack described his day as “the best day ever in school!”
Kelsea impressed Miss Beauchamp in school this week, for considering
carefully how the animals in “The Bridge” story could work
together safely to get off the bridge – she was very creative in her
thinking. Andi is also being celebrated because he remained
very focused and could independently retrieve all of the
answers from the story.
Mrs Wakeling would like to celebrate Katya for her attitude and effort in
school this week. She is showing that she is keen to make the most of her
time remaining at Priory Primary. She has been thorough in completing the homework set between schools days and is well
prepared for each school day, ready to learn. A particular well done for
her Maths assessment paper.
Some lovely photos taken of children who have been into school this week. These include some of our
children from Nursery, Year 6 and key workers.Great to have you with us.
AT HOME LEARNINGIn Year 1, Mrs Webber would like to nominate Andrew for a special mention
because he has been working really hard at home. He brought loads of work in to show us – excellent work Andrew!
Well done to Autumn-Lucia in Year 2 for a detailed explanation of what a garden
is and what is in her garden. Miss Beauchamp liked that
Autumn-Lucia found out the names of different plants to add to her
description. Ayesha is also being celebrated this week: Miss Beauchamp was pleased that Ayesha has been discussing her
different senses and how they might be affected when she feels nervous or excited. An important discussion to
have, Ayesha.
Time to celebrate Year 3 - congratulations to Michael for all his hard work again – completing a general knowledge Numeracy quiz, a
Literacy Quick Quiz, sending Mr Ashley a video message about the book he is currently reading and playing Times Tables Rockstars everyday.
Avisha is also being celebrated for completing the Literacy Quick Quiz, sharing her reading diary and also playing Times Table Rockstars
everday. Hamza and Amelia – well done for continuing to approach your home learning so positively.
Finally, Mr Ashley would like to say a big well done to ALL the children that took part in the Year 3 Times Tables Rockstars
competition this week. A special mention goes to Michael, Rizwan and Minhaj who
between them have spent over four hours trying to improve their times tables skills this
week. Superb effort!
Some excellent examples of work from Year 4 this week.
Sophia’s super effort with comprehension
Marta has worked hard and taken her time with the
comprehension task
Ryan solved 2-step word problems and showed his working out.
In Year 5 this week work has included Maariyah’s response to “Funny Animal Writing Prompts”…something to make us
smile. David’s response to “Fiction Work Snap”…he has been doing a lot of reading at home!
And…Ayaan Amar for winning our class TT-Rock star challenge! Yay!
