3 goals for the private beta
1. Get feedback on app issues
2. Get insights about users behaviour
3. Max userbase (as waiting list+users)
1. Get feedback
• Setup communication channels: feedback platforms (Zendesk), Skype, social, email (worst one, difficult to track issues)
• Go direct: contact most active users directly (Skype?) and understand how they really use the app
• Use feedback: decide feature and bug correction priorities
2. Get insights
• Funnel (set up Mixpanel): pageviews > clickthrough “go to beta” > sign-ups > first search > returning > referring
• So what? Use funnel data to understand where we’re leaking users and optimize accordingly. It’s a “silent feedback”.
3. Max userbase
• If userbase = reach * conversion: max reach, max conversion
• max reach: blogs, Twitter/FB profiles, press releases, events (?), SEO, contests (e.g., WCAP Funding Pitch), social referral plan. See marketing plan.
• max conversion: A/B test landing page and sign-up page, add other sign-up methods (just FB now)
