How much does it cost?

That depends As little as nothing if family member co-sponsor pays all

the costs. Half price if cost shared with CIC under Blended Visa Office

Referred program Full cost at Ontario Works monthly rates

Start up costs First and last months rent Hydro, phone, furnishings, clothing, stocking the pantry

Human resources Sponsoring a family is like raising a family 9 to 5 weekdays to deal with bureaucracies 24/7 for medical and family emergencies

1. A matching program, which provides sponsor groups with direct support from a pro-bono lawyer and law students

2. A training program, which trains lawyers and law students on the completion of sponsorships, and provides ongoing support for their work through sponsorship experts.

3. A public information program, which provides Canadians with easy-to-understand materials regarding sponsorships

Committed to raising the necessary funds for the sponsoring and settlement of people affected by the Syrian crisis.

The fundraising effort will focus on getting the necessary resources to where they are needed the most and will have the greatest impact.

This United Way Ottawa - Community Foundation of Ottawa initiative is in collaboration with the City of Ottawa.

Provincial Funding - $8.5M

Support Ontario community groups in their efforts to mobilize Ontarians to sponsor and welcome refugees

Provide advice, training and assistance to sponsors to help them navigate the sponsorship application process

Develop an assurance fund to reduce barriers to sponsoring refugees

Provide comprehensive, community-based supports for refugees, such as trauma counselling, settlement assistance and targeted integration programs for children and youth

Promote employer engagement in hiring and training refugees
