The final report in the inquiry into Sheena Bora murder-accused Indrani Mukherjea collapsing in custody at Byculla jail has said there was no overdose of medicines, attempted suicide, foul play or sabotage. 

On Saturday, a two-member CBI team questioned her in Byculla jail for six hours, starting at noon. Officials from the British Consulate have been given permission to meet her and will do so on Monday. 

Briefing the media on Saturday on the report's findings, Special IG (Prisons) Bipin Kumar Singh said medical reports from Hinduja Hospital ruled out an overdose of medicines. Also present at the briefing were Principal Secretary (Home) Vijay Satbir Singh and ADG (Prisons) BK Upadhyay. 

"The Hinduja Hospital reports mentioned finding amphetamines, opoids and cocaine but it also mentioned that the percentage is insignificant as the level is much lower than what is needed to establish presence of drugs. She had been on anti depressants and medication for body pain and insomnia. 

"Doctors at JJ hospital had sent her urine and blood samples to the Forensic Science Laboratory, which confirmed in its report that there has not been any overdose of any medicine," Singh said. 

He added that the statements of 32 people had been recorded, including inmates, jail staff and doctors who attended Indrani in jail, which did not point to any sabotage. 

Singh said Indrani woke up in the morning on October 2 and was reading the Bhagwad Gita when she collapsed. 

Indrani fainted in jail for the first time on September 8 and attended to by the jail doctor. On September 9, Dr Vikar Shaikh from JJ Hospital checked her. The next day, she again complained of body pain, insomnia and anxiety and fainted. She was treated by the jail doctor and sent back to her barrack. 

On September 11, Dr Sarika Dikshikar from JJ Hospital's psychiatry department attended her and prescribed a course of Etizolam 0.5 mg and Mirtazapine 7.5 mg tablets till September 26. 

In their statements, the jail guard and other staff said Indrani was monitored while taking the medication, and she could not have hoarded the medicines. JJ Hospital doctors said the symptoms displayed when admitted to their hospital were similar to an overdose of some medicine, or a suicide attempt. 

Satbir Singh said Indrani had stopped her medication since September 26. She had lost 10 kg since her arrest, and had weighed 51 kg when admitted to JJ Hospital. 

"Her blood sugar level was below 70 and she has a history of fainting due to

weakness," he added. Presently, Indrani, who is inmate number 1146, has been prescribed Clopitab tablets for chronic Ischemia (inadequate supply of blood to an organ, especially the heart muscles). 

CBI QUESTIONS RAHUL MUKERJEA 

The CBI on Saturday questioned Peter Mukerjea's son, Rahul, for over two hours at an undisclosed location in Worli in connection with Sheena Bora's murder, sources said. They added that two CBI officers had grilled Rahul, who had been in a relationship with Sheena prior to her disappearance. He had driven her to the crucial meeting in Bandra with her mother Indrani and ex-husband Sanjeev Kapoor, after which Sheena went missing. In April 2012, he had asked the police to investigate her disappearance.
