THE PRODUCT ADVANTAGEIn the PVC deck and roofing industry, trowels function as metering devices for applying the right amount of WBA adhesive in

membrane installations. Dec-Tec believes that one of the keys to ensuring a cost-effective, long-term, well-bonded installation

that minimizes the risk of callbacks and costly repairs, requires using the appropriate combination of WBA adhesive and

trowel. SBA adhesive is applied with a solvent resistant roller or paint brush.

To help ensure the success of your Dec-Tec installation, choose the appropriate trowel and adhesive.

Dec-Tec adhesives are specifically formulated for Dec-Tec membranes. Using a high-quality Dec-Tec adhesive and pairing it

with our recommended trowel can save substantial time and effort throughout the installation. Dec-Tec adhesives provide

superior adhesion over the long term, are composed of the highest-quality raw materials, and manufactured under strict

production control. They are developed to meet the most stringent requirements of construction, building codes and

environment, and are required to obtain your Dec-Tec warranty.

Maintain the cleanliness of your trowel

Before starting a job, trowels should be clean and dry to ensure sufficient adhesive coverage; dirty, clogged-up notches can

lead to improper spread rates, poor bond performance and costly installation repairs. Always clean using water and wipe

trowels dry after applying adhesive. Using abrasive techniques to remove dried adhesive will damage the trowel, shorten its

life span, and increase operating costs by having to replace it more often.

Use the proper trowel size

Trowels are notched with different profiles and sizes. The recommended size is a 1/16” x 3/32” (1.59mm x 2.38 mm

v-notched trowel. The correct notch size and notch style (whether V-notched, U-notched or square-notched) are

important considerations. Take these recommendations seriously because the width and depth of the notch

act as a gauge for applying a consistent amount of adhesive. Notches that are too close together can result in

insufficient coverage, resulting in a shorter open time and poor bond performance. Notches that are too far

apart, or too large, can result in ridges showing through the membrane and/or too much adhesive being applied.

Every pail of Dec-Tec WBA100 comes with an appropriate trowel. Once your pail of WBA is done, put your trowel in it, put the

lid on, and throw it away.

WBA 100 WATER-BASED LATEX ADHESIVE

THE PRODUCT ADVANTAGEDec-Tec WBA 100 is a high strength latex adhesive that offers

excellent field workability and is compatible with all Dec-Tec

membranes. Dec-Tec WBA 100 is a wet lay adhesive designed

specifically for the installation of Dec-Tec PVC membranes. Dec-

Tec WBA 100 adhesive is easily applied using a 1/16” x 3/32”

THE PRODUCT ADVANTAGEDec-Tec’s pre-manufactured membrane flashings simplify

installation for any contractor. The unique design of our 6”

wrap allows the installer, using either a single or pair of units,

to provide a variety of flashing solutions. One 6” (15.24 cm)

unit can be cut to create an outside corner, or two door sill

corners. Use two units to fully wrap or “boot” a 6” (15.24 cm)

wood post or column. The convenient 4” (10.16 cm) wrap size

is to be used for 4” (10.16 cm) wood post or where substrate

meets vertical section installed on the outside of Dec-Tec.

Tight working areas now pose less of a problem and there is

no need to worry about leaks at critical points. Made with our

reinforced fiberglass membrane, these strong, color-matched,

flashings get the job done quicker. Be confident that your

details are watertight!

In addition to the Dec-Tec standard supply of 4” (10.16 cm)

and 6” (15.24 cm) Dec-Flash, custom fabrication of Dec-

Flashing is also available from Dec-Tec. Contractors need

only provide a rough sketch or picture, showing required
