Production Diary:

First I searched google for an asset to 3D animate. I decided that I wanted to 3D animate a car so that’s exactly what I was looking for. I spent a long time searching before I came across this Caterham on TurboSquid.

Then I placed the un-textured model into Modeller and began to add my own textures.

This was my very first colour scheme idea. I hadn’t added any “textures” yet only decided on colours.

I added some metallic textures and a rubber texture for the tyres. Also, I added a transparent dark tinted glass texture on what would be the windshield.

After looking at the model it occurred to me that, with it being white, it didn’t really look like I’d changed much. So, I coloured it black and gave it a paint texture.

I decided to duplicate the exhaust and reflect it perfectly, like a mirror, to the other side. The only problem I hit doing this which I could fix was, for some reason, the two exhaust were different colours and looked textured differently despite one being a carbon copy of the other.

The last thing I did before sending over to layout for animating was to correctly colour the interior.

Next I went onto some of the folders containing assets given to us at the beginning of the project. I looked for parts of a road and found these which I decided I would later arrange in Modeller and send to Layout for the car to drive around

This is what the finished road looked like.

After that I began to 3D animate the car going along the racetrack.
