The first stage was to cutout the picture using the‘magnetic lasso tool’. Ithen turned the picture intogreyscale.

This is done to ensure thepicture can be placed ondifferent layers forexample without thebackground of the pictureshowing.

The second stage of theprocess was to get the rightsize for the magazineadvert and chose thecolour.

The next stage was todownload a brush palletand use one of the brushto make a torn/rippedeffect.

Once I used the brushto make a torn/rippedeffect, I then had to addanother layer. On here,again using the brush tool

I made less tear’s and used the effect of a drop shadow to show the effect more.

Here is the picture I cutout previously. As it wason another file, I simplydragged it over andresized and positioned it.

In this stage I added somewriting at the bottom‘Scan for additionalpurchase’ I also addeda QR code at the end of it.Underneath this writing Iadded logos of well-known stores where themusic can be purchased.

Here I decided to use the font ‘Monotype Corsiva’ for the artists name ‘AmyPiner’. This font stands outand its clear to read.

For the artists name, I put a drop shadow effect. This is because the name is able to stand out more.

Production of the magazine advertHere I decided to use the font ‘Trash’ which I had tosearch for and download. I decided to use this fontfor the album name‘TORN’ because its clearto read and represent thealbum name and it has atorn effect on the edgingsimilar to the effectcreated by the brushes forthe background.

‘OUT NOW’ was alsowritten in the ‘Trash’ font. I did this because I tried it with the ‘MonotypeCorsiva’ font, however,because the writing is stillbig unlike ‘Scan here foradditional purchase’(Monotype Corsiva font) ittook the effect away fromthe artists name.

For the wording ‘TORN’and ‘OUT NOW’ I usedand inner and outershadow effect which thewords to look imprinted.

Once I had made the CDcover I simply dragged itacross onto the magazineadvert and placed itabove the wording ‘OUTNOW’ so it is clear its the CD I'm talking about.

In order for it to be extraclear to anyone viewingthe magazine advert thatthere’s a CD placed there,I placed a red outer glowaround the CD cover tomake it stand out.
