The wonderful 5/6 Market Day!!!!!
On the 27th of August 2013 we had the spectacular 5/6 Market Day. We enjoyed seeing kids have a lot of fun, while at the same time we were enjoying the opportunity to raise around $3200 dollars for the grade 5/6 graduation. I hope all you Dorset kids had a lot of fun for we had a lot of hard work to make this happen. I thank all the grade 5/6 teachers for putting so much effort to make this a wonderful Market Day. It was a wonderful time for the preps, 1’s, 2’s 3’s and 4’s. I hope you enjoyed Market Day just as much as we did.

Market Day
This Market Day we raised $3,174.75 which
is one of the best sales the school has ever
had!!! One thing I really enjoyed was the
experience to be hands on with selling
services and goods to other people.
I think that if we did not have the teachers
help we would not have been able to have this
wonderful Market Day. So on behalf of the
grade 5/6’s I would like to say a big thank you
for all your hard work and efforts that had
gone into this enjoyable day.
For the parents that were not able to make it to
Market Day the variety of stalls were just
amazing. We had Art ‘n’ craft, raffle stall,
donut eating challenge, waffles, Jelly, hot
chips and much more, so that gives you a fair
idea of what stalls may have been at Market
Day.

Secondary Transition News Update
Now that students have been officially accepted
into secondary colleges, these schools will start
to arrange visits to Dorset to meet with
students and their teachers. Most of these
visits will occur in Term 4, however some
schools are booking in visits as soon as next
week. This gives our Grade 6 students a
chance to talk with their school’s representative
and ask any questions they might have. It also
allows Grade 5/6 teachers to discuss individual
students and raise any issues, concerns or
other relevant information. This allows for a
smoother and more positive transition for
students into their secondary education.

OSHC NEWS Greetings from the Dorset OSHC!
We started off our space theme this week with building rocket ships and spacemen out of cardboard and we have also begun our next coloring competition. Make sure you enter for your chance to win exciting space themed prizes!! Also watch out for Madhouse: Space Edition coming next week.
A reminder to parents that signing in and out is a legal requirement! This means signing the name, time and signature in full, and this cannot be done by the kids themselves. We’re sorry for pressing this matter again, but it really is important for the safety of the kids.
Holiday Club bookings are now open! You can check out the booking details online. Also a reminder that parents can save up to 50% on holiday club fees through the Child Care Rebate. Call our head office on 1300 105 343 if you need more details. Gigantic greetings from Chris, Kane and Natalie in the OSHC room.

Dear Parents, Head Lice Infestation We had an inspection last week and there were 39 infestations. At the end of term 2 there were 47 infestations. As you can see, not much improvement. The nurse will be coming again before the end of term to carry out another inspection. We must have co-operation from everyone to eradicate this social problem. Hair must be treated according to directions and re-treated seven days later. Bed, clothing, cushions etc must also be checked. Lice live for 24 hours away from the hair. It is essential that hair is tied back and unable to touch other children’s hair. This may not be the latest fashion but is essential to eradicate this problem. If you need financial assistance with purchasing products, please make contact with me, so the school can help. Having inspections costs the school a lot of money and it would be great not to have to do it. I’d prefer to spend our fundraising money on equipment for the children!! New Sandpit Our new sandpit should be ready for use by the end of the week. Thanks Chris Allan, a terrific job, the children will love it! Repair to Playground Equipment Repairs will take place over the holidays. The grade 6 Gladiator is being replaced. Depending on fundraising etc we are hoping to replace the year 3/4 playground. Before any equipment can be installed we have to have detailed plans of underground services etc. This has been done at a substantial cost, so we are ready to roll. Father’s Day Stall Thank you Terry Bebe and parent helpers for all you efforts. The children will have a great choice of items. Enjoy the stuff! Market Day - Year 5/6 What an outstanding achievement by the children and staff. So many stalls, so many brilliant ideas. The school community loved it. A great educational experience! Working Bee - Sunday 8th September Working Bee notices were sent home yesterday. Please return your notice to the office. The working bee will take place Sunday 8th September 10 am - 2 pm with a sausage sizzle provided for lunch. Please come along and support the school by doing a few ‘clean up’ tasks around the school. I hope to see you all there. The production is going well, not long to go. Kind Regards,
John Jacobs Principal
