    2.1 Responsibilities

Our devices are quality controlledand tested at the factory in accor-dance with the standards and theregulations currently in force.Apparatus efficiency and appara-tus life depend on the compliancewith the installation, commission-ing and operation instructions de-scribed in this user manual. Nonrespect of these instructions islikely to invalidate any guarantee.

Local requirements especiallyabout safety and which are in ac-cordance with the indications given

in this document, must be ob-served.AREVA declines any responsibilityfor the consequences:

    > due to the non respect of therecommendations in this manualwhich make reference to the in-ternational regulations in force.

    > due to the non respect of the in-structions by the suppliers of

cables and connection accesso-ries during installation and fittingoperations,

    > of any possible aggressive cli-matic conditions (humidity, pol-lution, etc.) acting in the imme-diate environment of the materi-als that are neither suitablyadapted nor protected for theseeffects.

This user manual does not list thelockingout procedures that mustbe applied. The interventions de-

scribed are carried out ondeenergized equipment (in thecourse of being installed) or lockedout (non operational).

2.2 Particular instructions for operations and interventions on energized equipment

When commissioning and operat-ing the equipment under normalconditions, the general safety in-structions for electrical applicationsmust be respected, (protectivegloves, insulating tool, etc.), in ad-dition to standard operating in-structions.

All operation must be completedonce started.

The durations (for completing theoperations mentioned) given in themaintenance tables are purely anindication and depend on onsiteconditions.

    3 Functional interlocks

    3.1 Functional mechanical interlocks

The MODULARC switchgear isequipped with internal mechanical

interlocks, called "functional", in-tended to avoid any kind of operat-ing error.

It is necessary to know these inter-locks in order to operate the

    switchgear correctly.

5 Use of the CB function

The procedures here fol-lowing described refer toa line switchgear withmanual closing andopening controls. It will

be necessary to shift thedoor-es (earthing switch-ing) interlock, in order toinsert the lever.

    > Act on the DOOR-ES interlock,by shifting it downwards.

5.1 Opening the earth ing switch

    > Insert the operating lever intothe earthing switch control.

    > Grasp the lever with both hands.

    > Turn the lever counter-clockwise, up to reach the endof stroke. The mimic diagramindicator will turn from the

    closed earth position to the

    earth open position .

    > Extract the operating lever.

    6 Maintenance

    6.1 Levels of maintenance

    Description Levels

Operations recommended in the instructions manual "installation-operation

-maintenance", car-ried out by suitably qualified personnel having received training allowing them to intervene whilst

    respecting the safety rules.1

Complex operations, requiring specific expertise and the implementation of support equipment inaccordance with AREVAs procedures. These must be carried out by AREVA or by a specialisedtechnician trained by AREVA when starting the procedures, with the appropriate specific equip-ment.

    2

All preventive and corrective maintenance, all renovation and reconstruction work is carried out byAREVA.

    7 Spare parts

    7.1 The spare part

Describes a part that is designedto replace a corresponding one

with a view to re-establishing theoriginal function.

    The replacement of

these parts canonly be carried outby a person who issuitably qualifiedand trained for thisoperation.

    For an explanation

of the levels ofmaintenance, please refer to 6.1.

    7.3 Storage conditions

The components should be storedaway from dust, humidity or directsun. In order to facilitate the

search, they must be marked bythe AREVA reference number.

Certain components are fragile, they must be stored in their originalpackaging.

    8.1 General characteris tics

Type of Insulating Gas:Sulphur Hexafluoride (SF6) iaw

    IEC 60376.

Each switchgear comprises a tank, filled with SF6gas, designed as apressurised, sealed-unit system inaccordance with the requirementsof IEC 60694.

During the expected operating lifeand under normal operating condi-

tions the gas should not need top-ping up.

The GWP (Global Warming Poten-tial) of the SF6gas is 22,200.

    Never pierce thepressurised tank!

    Never attempt toopen the tank.

    8.2 Filling pressure

At 20C the filling pressure is 0.030 MPa.
