Administrative Achievements

The School of economics is upgraded as the Centre of Excellence in teaching and research in

economics by The Dept of Higher Education, Govt of Madhya Pradesh and could attract financial

support under World Bank Project.

Initiated professional programmes in the functional areas of economics at postgraduate level with

programmes like MBA (Business Economics), MBA (International Business) and MBA

(Financial Services) on self-supporting basis in the department and created eight regular faculty

positions on self supporting basis with the approval from Govt of M.P.

These programmes not only revived the basic tenets of the department of engaging in the core

areas of economics but also provided a fillip wherein the degree programmes could be of relevance

in catering to the industry needs as well. The students are placed in banks, financial, logistic and

major FMCG companies through campus recruitments.

Established the State Planning Commission Chair on ‘Decentralized Planning and Micro

Economic Governance in the Department with the support from State Planning Commission,

Madhya Pradesh.

Mobilized financial and advisory support from UGC under its flagship scheme of Special

Assistance Programme (UGC-SAP) since 2004 and successfully coordinated and completed

first and second phase of Departmental Research Support (DRS) and is now working on third

phase of DRS since April 2015. The key objective of this initiative has been a policy oriented

research towards environmental issues of development and poverty for the region of Madhya

Pradesh.

The department is identified for financial support under the UGC scheme of the Centre with

Potential for Excellence
