Explore EngineeringBoats to buildings to bridges. Have you ever wondered what it takes to create these amazing structures? In this fun hands-on class, you will learn the design process that goes into such projects and create your own!

Intro to RoboticsThis class is a beginning introduction to robots, sensors and program-ming using NXT Lego Robotics System. You will use a basic model robot to attach touch, light, sound and ultra-sonic sensors. Working in pairs, you will learn to program the NXT robot using the sensors to complete mini challenges. Teamwork is an essen-tial 21st century skill and the foundation of many robotic competitions.

Coding for KidsComputer science and computer programming help nurture your problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. This fun, interactive class will teach you the concepts of computer logic, coding, and pro-gramming. Watercolor PaintingExplore the wonderful world of watercolor painting begin-ning with sketching. From there, you will learn how to use different brush strokes to create different effects in your painting. No experience necessary! You will learn to create personal works of art in this fun class!

Recycled ArtDiscover your creative side making projects that use everyday mate-rials. You will make a chandelier out of water bottles, animals from everyday materials, and an art piece that can be used as a decoration in your home. Students should bring an empty water bottle to the first class.

American CartooningStarting with two simple shapes, you can create your own cartoon character. Two more simple shapes and you have added a body. Learn how to have your characters show emotion. You will be surprised at how fast and simple it is to draw your cartoon characters. Follow along and draw with the instructor while she talks and illustrates on the white-board. Babysitting Clinic Instructor: L. Carey(Ages 11 - 16) This clinic will teach students the responsi-bilities of being a babysitter, what parents expect, how to handle emergencies, caring for and handling infants and young children, feeding techniques and diapering, age-ap-propriate toys and activities, tips for bedtime issues and much more! Students will learn basic first aid and how to handle emergencies that arise such as injuries, illnesses and household accidents. Robotics Instructor: S. Horst-Sommer(Entering grades 6 - 8) This class is an exploration in building and programming robots using the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Robotics System. Students will build a variety of robots and program them with a computer to move, spin, and much more in order to solve challenges. Students will work in pairs and small teams, sharing a robotics kit and computer. This class is good preparation for students interested in robotics competitions or even for students who enjoy LEGOS and are looking for a new and exciting way to explore with them. Mon. - Thurs. Villisca Axe Murders – One of Iowa’s Most Notorious and Unsolved Crimes Presenter: Kelly Rundle, Documentarian and Filmmaker of 4th Wall Films The Villisca axe murders are easily the most notorious murders in Iowa history, and the house in which they took place was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
