Established in 1949, RCF has prided itself on carrying out the design and production of its own products.

The history of the company started with a parallel development of microphone technology as well as

loudspeakers; the early microphone products were highly advanced ‘Ribbon’ designs manufactured

exclusively for some very prominent American Audio companies. This initial development soon followed

a natural progression to start the design and manufacture of innovative loudspeaker transducer technology.

Unlike most loudspeaker companies who outsource the supply of transducers we have always preferred

to design and construct completely all our own components.

Many years dedicated to studying and building audio transducers and electronics have resulted in some

notable milestones. RCF was the first company to build a 300 watt commercial amplifier in the mid sixties

and, in the same period, the first in Europe to have a high level Research Centre studying loudspeakers,

horns and compression drivers. During this period we built the first of 3 anechoic chambers that represent

the focal point of our history.

During the last ten years RCF transitioned into the forefront of active loudspeaker technology, from theintroduction of the original ART series to many prominent active products conceived and designed in our laboratories.We have over the years grown to understand the best ways to use the extra degree of freedom that an active systemoffers and in interpreting how this technology affects the transducer design. Our research and engineering facultycan today offer innovative projects with finite control of each detail, from the loudspeaker voice coil wire to thehighly efficient extended dynamic amplifier topology.

There are many different ingredients that go into creating quality products and systems. These includecomputer aided simulation software to assist the understanding of transducer behaviour and amplifier operationand the relationship of dynamics and transient response.

However it is the vast technical and practical experience that our Research and Engineering team possesthat ensures the quality of our products plus placing RCF as the market leaders in True Active Loudspeaker Technologyand transducer development.

The RCF loudspeaker line incorporates a vast range of transducers covering the entire audio spectrum.We design our transducers to optimise the relationship between the purity of sound, combining the absence ofdistortion and the ability to withstand high power levels over a long period of time.

RCF develops advanced transducer technology including the application of high-tech materials such ascarbon fibre, damped titanium, Kevlar® and Mylar® hybrids. With over 50 years of design and manufacturingexperience in the market, RCF have been instrumental in technological inventions such as: “carbon fibre conemoulding’’, “double silicon spiders’’ , “inside/outside’’ voice coil winding and compression driver topology, “edgewound’’ voice coil manufacturing and pure titanium diaphragm forming. Our latest developments have resulted inutilising state of the art Neodymium magnetic materials and Direct Drive Voice Coil Assembly.

PURE TITANIUM DIAPHRAGMRCF has developed an oxygen freeprocess of moulding pure titanium ultrathin films in high quality, finely controlledshaped diaphragms.Our process offers superior sonic quality,extended to the highest audiblefrequencies which guarantee consistentpower handling and reliability.

NEODYMIUM MAGNETSOur Precision Compression Drivers andWoofers are equipped with high thermalperformance with high performancelightweight Neodymium magnets, offeringadvantages in system portability andhigh frequency clarity (due to the forceof magnetic flux in the gap exceeding 2kilogauss).Specific attention has been paid tomagnetic circuit polarization for optimumthermal immunity.

OURTECHNOLOGIES

LICC LOW IMPEDANCE COMPENSATEDCROSSOVERAll our passive speakers are equippedwith high power handling low impedancecrossover designs. The low impedancecompensated crossover is an RCF first,and a breakthrough in crossover design.Conventional passive crossovers havean approximate 180 degree phase shiftbetween the woofer and tweeter at thecrossover point.Such a system cannot reproducetransients correctly, causing negativeeffects on sound accuracy that areparticularly noticeable with violin,trumpet, piano and vocals.Very low inductance values are used inthe LICC, thus providing an excellenttransient response and drasticallyreducing phase shifts between wooferand tweeter. As a result, LICC provideswell-defined natural and open sound -across the entire audio bandwidth.

TAED AMPLIFIER TECHNOLOGYRCF True Active Extended Dynamicamplifier technology is a result of nearlyten years at the forefront of active speakerdesign and manufacture. The result isthe perfect match of amplifier totransducer, RCF is able to achieve thisbecause quite simply we design andmanufacture directly ALL the ingredients.If you are able to increase the effectivedynamic range of a loudspeaker systemthis will immediately provide improvedsonic accuracy, voice clarity, depth andresolution of the audio signals.Our new generation of active amplifiermodules are designed with a new‘’Double Wave’’ Limiting System thatapart from giving improved transducerprotection - guarantees the full use ofthe true dynamic range of the poweramplifier.This in turn dramatically reducesdistortion levels being delivered to thesystems transducers.

DIRECT DRIVE VOICE COIL ASSEMBLYOur voice coil assemblies are designedusing high strength high temperatureNomex® voice coil Formers withrectangular profile copper cladaluminium wire which are assembledusing advanced specially formulatedadhesives. Proprietary curing processesensure optimal assembly strength andsafe operation even under extremethermal conditions. The top of the Formeris bent and bonded directly to the edgeof the titanium diaphragm resulting ina Direct Drive configuration.Direct Drive guarantees optimal transferof energy between the voice coil andthe dome assembly, providing smoother,extended frequency response beyond10 KHz, reducing break up modes andlowering distortion.This assembly delivers high powerhandling along with excellent mechanicaland thermal properties that make RCFPrecision Series compression driversrobust and reliable.

VOICE COILPower Compression is the neglectedfactor in many professional audio systemdesigns.In woofers and subwoofers the powercompression at maximum rated powercan vary from 3-4 dB for good designsand up to 6-7 dB for poorly vented orsmall coil designs. This will affect notonly the final achievable sound pressurelevel (SPL) but also the transducer Thiele-Small parameters, dramatically changingthe high power curve response andsound characteristics.For this reason all our woofer andsubwoofer designs are equipped withlarge sized, properly ventedinside/outside voice coils. Thisguarantees the long term reliability andlife of the product.

INSIDE/OUTSIDE VOICE COILSRCF has developed a unique voice coil,combining the advantages ofinside/outside technology to the superiorquality of polyimide-imide materials (wireresins and former resins).The inside/outside coil offers manyadvantages:- the dissipation surface is doubled- the adhesion area to the former is

doubled- during thermal expansion the former

is squeezed between inside and outsidelayers offering the best mechanicalresistance.

Our former is made from polyimide -imide fibreglass and the area betweenthe coil and the cone is a triple layer ofnomex - fibreglass - nomex for maximumstiffness and accurate sound transfer.

ART was originally conceived way back in 1996. The brief was a tough one. To create perfect sound.Moreover, the speaker enclosures were to be portable, lightweight and strong enough to withstand every day use.Using the latest ‘’Advanced Resource Technology’’.The brief remains the same but with even more exacting challenges. Portable and even lighter in weight systemswere a must, plus the demands from Musicians for improved vocal clarity and definition.

To achieve this RCF has taken the numerous new technological advances in our own transducer developmentsalong with designing new high efficiency ‘’True Active Extended Dynamics’’ TAED amplifier technology. Our new RCFPrecision Series of light in weight Neodymium compression drivers with advanced phase plug technology and highpower ceramic woofers provide this goal.

COMPONENTS

The woofers used in the newArt Series can withstand peak power ofup to 6 times the nominal power. Thesemid bass woofers have been designedfor superior reproduction of acousticsignals up to the crossover frequency.Specific attention has been applied tothe speaker cones, all are optimized forshape and pulp composition.Our edgewound copper clad aluminiumvoice coils provide maximum efficiencyand high speed for accurate transientresponse. ‘’Inside /Outside ’’copper cladaluminium voice coils provide maximumreliability. Our massive magnets offersuperior bass control and mid-bass voicepresence.

Our state of the artcompression drivers are made fromneodymium magnetic circuit technology,reaching levels that exceed 2 Kilogaussin the gap. Thanks to RCF’s “puretitanium” diaphragms and proprietaryhigh pressure oxygen free mouldingtechnology, we are able to reproducetransparent and accurate highfrequencies true in all the audible range.

AMPLIFIERS

All the new ART models aredesigned using newly created RCF ‘TrueActive Extended Dynamics TAED ActiveAmplifier Technology. Based around 350watt low and 50 watt high Bi- Amplifiedmonolithic modules, each amplifier hasa specific input board and is set-up tooptimize the performance in conjunctionto the specific transducers in eachmodel.

Each amplifier will give you:Jack and XLR balanced inputs, XLROutput link, Mic/Line selectable Input,switchable Eq Mode (Voice/Music),Optional Remote Control for Volume,Mute and Equalization.

CABINETS

Art’s polynomial constantdirectivity horn has virtually the samephysical area as the woofer. This meansthat the driver is perceived to achievethe same output power as the low sectionwith minimum diaphragm excursion,resulting in a well defined, natural andopen sound.

The shape of the horn is aunique design able to provide exceptionalconstant directivity with both the 1” and2” compression drivers.Art’s bass reflex cabinet is moulded ina special polypropylene compositematerialresulting from years of experience inplastic cabinet designs, which providesuperior stiffness for the weight andexcellent low frequency damping.

Each cabinet is equipped withergonomically designed handles on eachside and a comfortable top handle foreasy manoeuvrability in every situation.Four M10 threaded inserts are providedfor optional mounting hardware inInstalled Sound Applications.

RCF ART 705-AS active subwoofer integratesa high current 800 Watt amplifier, a completeelectronic processor section and RCF low distortion,high power woofer. COMPONENTS

It is the acoustic designs thathave made RCF the transducer companyof choice for many of the world’s leadingprofessional audio brands. For the designof 4PRO, we have not only used all newhigh frequency drivers which are part ofour high performance RCF and the wellknown RCF 18” woofer, but after 2 yearsof research, we have finally produced anew “state of the art” midrange unit.

The compression driver is thevery latest in neodymium magnetic circuittechnology, reaching levels that exceed2 Kilogauss in the gap. The “puretitanium” diaphragms are able toreproduce transparent and accurate highfrequencies, true to all the audio range.This is thanks to RCF’s proprietary highpressure oxygen free mouldingtechnology.

The low frequency drivers usedin the 4PRO Series can withstand peakpower of up to 6 times the nominalpower. These mid bass woofers havebeen designed for superior reproductionof acoustic signals up to the crossoverfrequency.

CABINETS

All 4PRO cabinets are in Balticbirch, heavy duty painted.

4PRO 3001-A and 4PRO4001-A cabinets sides are coated with“ultra strong vinyl”, top and bottomplates are moulded in high densitycompact polystyrene. The other modelsutilise a road tough textured black epoxypaint finish.

All models are equipped withflying hardware (3 M10 threaded pointsand flanges), 4PRO 6001-A offer 3proprietary FlyTrak points for rapidinstallation.

RCF 4PRO 8002-AS active subwoofer integratesa high current 800 Watt amplifier, plus completeelectronic processor section and RCF PrecisionSeries low distortion, high power woofer. The resultis a compact, high power subwoofer, unique in itsclass for punchy output and low distortioncharacteristics. This new high power 18” inch woofer is theresult of the last refinement in years of RCFexperience in compact active subwoofers design,resulting in a fast and controlled reproduction ofthe bass frequency range. A 2 step class H design is used to power thesystem. This high current design, the amount of

deliverable power in conjunction with a massivetransformer and a multiple of high storage capacitorsis able to achieve perfect control of the woofermass at very high output levels. The input section presents mono/stereo comboXLR/Jack input connectors and XLR high passoutput connectors. A recessed master volume, thephase switch and the selectable crossover frequencyswitch guarantee the best versatility. The cabinet features two M10 threaded pointsfor optional speaker kart, a 35 mm polemountadaptor, two ergonomic recessed sidehandles.

4PRO 7001 is unique in concert sound applications for SPL and dynamics and equallyimpressive in professional sound systems such as large clubs and theatres.Specially engineered for touring applications and Larger Venue Installations.

4PRO 7001 is a leading edge system for touringand professional applications . It is an arrayable,medium throw system that integrates very highpower “full neodymium” RCF low distortiontransducers. The new 15” inch neodymium, 4” voice coilmid-bass are the result of the latest refinement inyears of RCF experience in speaker design andmanufacture, resulting in an accurate and a tightbass response. RCF’s unique 10” Precision sealed basketmidrange is specially optimized to work with the4PRO-7001 60x40 midrange horn. A massiveneodymium magnet and a “Compression Driverlevel” assembly design has been dedicated to reach

low distortion and dynamic properties for thistransducer. The compression driver is our “reference model”,using a new 3” titanium dome in front of a lowcompression, optimized geometry, aluminum phaseplug. This innovative design is powered from a highflux neodymium magnet and offers a very openand natural sound and an extreme precision inhigh frequency reproduction. The driver is loadedon a 60x40 constant directivity aluminum horn.

The DX 4008 is a complete 4 input - 8 output digital loudspeakermanagement system designed for the touring or fixed sound installationmarkets. The absolute latest in available technology is utilized with 32-bit(40-bit extended) floating point processors and high performance 24-bitAnalog Converters. Sampling rate can be set to 96kHz. The high-bit DSPprevents noise and distortion induced by truncation errors of the commonlyused 24-bit fixed-point devices. A complete set of parameters include I/Olevels, delay, polarity, 6 bands of parametric EQ per channel,multiple crossover selections and full function limiters.

Precise frequency control is achieved with its 1 Hz resolution.Inputs and outputs can be routed in multiple configuration to meet anyrequirements.

The DX 4008 can be controlled or configured in real time on the frontpanel or with the intuitive PC GUI accessed via the RS 232 interface.Software upgrade for CPU and DSP via PC keeps the device current withnewly developed algorithms and functions once available. Multiple setupstorage and system security complete this professional package.

These professional stereo power amplifiers, working in class-H mode, providefrom 2 x 800 W up to 1 x 3200 W respectively, at an efficiency of around85%.

A massive transformer based power supply and hand selected componentsmake these power ratings possible with exceptional audio quality andabsolute reliability, even in the 2 ohm mode.

The output stages are fully protected against over-temperature, short circuit,RFI and equipped with soft start circuit and temperature-controlled fancooling.The integral soft clip limiter protects against damage to the connectedloudspeakers. The activity of a protective circuit, signal and limiter is shownfor each channel by LED’s.
