AHPA SA - MEMBERS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIPS Background The AHPA SA Branch seeks to support the professional development of members. The Professional Development Scholarships are offered to support the South Australian Health Promotion workforce in developing the specialised skills and understandings required for high quality health promotion. Scholarships are available to support members to develop one or more of the AHPA Core Competencies* for Health Promotion Practitioners: 1. Program planning, implementation and evaluation competencies 2. Partnership building competencies 3. Communication and report writing competencies 4. Technology competencies 5. Knowledge competencies Professional development scholarships each $50 to $500 ($500 per round) will be offered every 6 months to AHPA members residing in South Australia for the purpose of attending an event of relevance to professional development in health promotion. Potential activities/events might include; Participating in short course (face to face or online) to develop knowledge and/or skills in health promotion Participating in a workshop or training session to develop knowledge and/or skills in health promotion Participating in a health promotion conference (e.g. AHPA, IUHPE) Key Dates Round 1 - for events to occur Jan to June of the year of application Applications due – March 30 Applications assessed – April Applicants notified of success or otherwise – April Round 2 – for events to occur July to December of the year of application Applications due – September 30 Applications assessed – October Applicants notified of success or otherwise –October

Eligibility & Conditions of Funding Applicants must be an individual member of AHPA SA.

The professional development activity must clearly develop at least one of the AHPA Core Competencies for Health Promotion Practitioners*

Funds may be applied for retrospectively or prospectively. Funding requested may be for part or all of the costs incurred in attending.

Payments will be made to the successful applicants on receipt of a signed reimbursement form (with copies of relevant receipts)

Successful applicants will need to produce a 500 word written report within a month of attending the Professional development activity, outlining the lessons for health promotion practice they have gained from their attendance that are relevant to other practitioners. This report will be shared online with the AHPA SA community.

AHPA SA reserves the right to inform the AHPA member base of the successful applicants including any photographs taken at presentation, which will be shared online.
