SAAA is proud to be one of the “Big Five” local associations in Texas. Chartered in 1964, SAAA is a non-profit trade organi-zation serving 21 counties. Currently, the Association is made up of more than 1,500 multi-family mem-bers and over 350 indus-try related product and service members. SAAA prides itself in offering professional education opportunities for all our members from owners to maintenance personnel and everyone at any staff level.

Professional Curriculum...The 2013 Professional Education Program (PEP) is designed to provide additional value to your Association membership. A carefully planned vari-ety of quality instruction has been implemented to meet the needs of all multi-family personnel. All PEP approved courses qualify for continuing education credits (CEC’s) from the National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI).

Convenient Schedules...Typically, courses are offered Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during the morning hours. Most seminars are presented in half day sessions, thus eliminating significant time away from the workplace. Class locations will vary, please refer to each individual registration form for specific location and time details.

Easy Registration...The PEP program has been designed to be affordable and valuable to our apartment communi-ty members. For example, Main Street Apartments pays the one-time PEP tuition*; throughout the year, the manager, assistant manag-er, leasing consultants and maintenance personnel can attend any PEP approved class at no charge or at a reduced cost. PEP subscribers will be required to complete a registration form for each class they are planning to attend.

REGISTRATION 06 PRICING

Pricing...SAAA members choosing not to become PEP subscribers may register individually for any course throughout the year for a single class fee. Each class has a specific cancellation date and all registrants are expected to adhere to the cancellation policy and will be responsible for fees accordingly.

CAMCertified Apartment ManagerThe on-site manager is a vital link between apartment residents and the commu-nity owners and investors. The manager must provide satisfactory accommodations for the residents as well as a strong bottom line on the owners investment. That’s why an increasing number of own-ers and investors are seeking NAA-designated CAM, Certified Apartment Managers, to fill their staffing needs.

Established in 1972, and recently updated, the CAM program teaches students: Management of Residential Issues, Legal Responsibilities, Risk Management, Human Resource Management, Fair Housing, Marketing, Property Maintenance for Managers, Financial Management, and Community Analysis For over 30 years the CAM program has been in place to educate and professionalize the rental hous-ing manager.

CAPSCertified Apartment Portfolio SupervisorTake the next step in your professional development and become a certified success by earning your Certified Apart-ment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) designation. The Na-tional Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI) offers this nationally recog-nized designation for multi-site supervisors and experienced apartment managers with a CAM, ARM or RAM designation. To obtain a CAPS designation you must: have worked as a multi-site supervisor for 24 months or be a CAM, ARM or RAM designate in good stand-ing with 24 months of manage-ment experience; successfully

complete the five courses listed below (which total 40 hours); and, meet all examination re-quirements, within 24 months of declaring your candidacy for CAPS.

CAPS training covers: Legal Re-sponsibilities and Risk Manage-ment; Financial Management; Property Performance Man-agement; Property Evaluation and Due Diligence; Effective Leadership

CASCertified Apartment SupplierSuppliers are important liaisons to the multi-family housing industry. This course is designed as an opportunity for suppliers to hear the every-day challenges faced by the apartment manager customer. Held in conjunction with the CAM course, CAS students will learn: Management of Residen-tial Issues; Risk Management; Financial Management and choose from the following list of electives: Legal Respon-sibilities; Human Resource Management; Fair Housing; Marketing; Property Mainte-nance for Managers.

CAS is designed for Vendor members who want to increase their industry knowledge and get a better understanding of their multi-family housing customer’s needs. There are no pre-requisites to register for CAS, and supplier members are encouraged to join their indus-try peers and enroll today.

IROPIndependent Rental Owner ProfessionalThe Independent Rental Owner Professional (IROP) designa-tion program is offered to the rental owner who manages their personally-held multi-family property or properties. The independent rental owner serves several roles in property management, public relations specialist, administrator, chief financial officer, marketing di-rector and operations manager. Independent rental owners who take the IROP course will learn the the many business practices of professional property managers and can now earn the IROP designation

after completing the course of study and passing the online exam. With the help of other independent rental owners who devoted their time and expertise to this program, you will receive an “insider’s view” of property ownership and management practices.

CAMTCertified Apartment Maintenance TechnicianMaintenance expenses are the sin-gle largest controllable element in any operating budget. This course is designed as an introduction for new maintenance professionals or as a refresher for the veteran employee, to give these profes-sionals the knowledge and tools necessary to run an effective maintenance program.

CAMT Training includes seven courses: The three non-technical courses consist of online learning followed by online practice sce-narios; the five technical courses consist of hands-on classroom training followed by online practice scenarios.

POLICIESThe following policies have been established with the interest of the general membership in mind. Registration policies apply to all SAAA members, regardless of any affiliation with PEP.

All registrations must be in writing. Each education flyer has a registration form at the bottom, with simple instructions on how to register. This form may be faxed, mailed or emailed to SAAA. Online registrations are also accepted at www.saaaonline.org.

Telephone registrations and/or cancellations will not be accepted for any education events. No exceptions!

All registrations must be received by the specified date on each flyer. Registrations received after the spec-ified date cannot be guaranteed.

SAAA gladly accepts cancellations, as long as they are made in writing 5 days prior to the event date. No exceptions will be made. Cancellations made after that date will not be accepted and full payment will be expected.

Reminder notices will be sent via email only, please include on all registrations.

All No Shows are responsible for payment in full.

Registrants who fail to attend may transfer to the next available identical seminar. A $25 nonrefundable transfer fee will be assessed for each transfer requested. All transfers must be requested in writing and must be authorized by SAAA Education Department prior to attendance. All fees will be billed at the time of original seminar date.

PEP subscribers may be assessed a “No Show Fee” equal to one-half of the full cost of the course per registrant should they fail to show up for a seminar they have registered for.

In order to participate in PEP, all subscriber accounts must be current and in good standing with SAAA. Should a member’s dues lapse during the PEP subscription period, all PEP privileges will be suspended immediately, and no refund will be issued.

SAAA neither verifies nor qualifies registrants; your registration constitutes your warranty and representation that you have the authority to register and attend, and that payment therefore will be made timely by your employer.

Substitutions are always welcome. Please notify SAAA Education Department in advance. Temperatures in seminar rooms may vary. Therefore, wearing layered clothing to ensure your personal comfort is recom-mended.

Non-member prices and policies differ from those of the SAAA members. Non-members are encouraged to call SAAA regarding registration information.
