wondering what is being talked about Well itrsquos the gigantic Yashoda Group of

Having the largest number of beds and staff is not a n easy task to achieve But

Yashodarsquos up-to-day emergency service facilities add up to the basket of its

achievements A right- on-hand proof is the roof top helipad (the first in this region) at

Yashoda Hospitals Secunderabad which enables to shift patients from distant areas

to this centre The Group has three hospitals in Secunderabad (500 beds) Malakpet

(300) and Somajiguda (300) with a combined capacity of 1100 beds One might

think why so much concentration only in AP Well it is because the group wants to

create a strong foothold on home ground first and then move on to other pastures

The Start

DrG Surender Rao the present Executive Director of Yashoda Group of

Hospitals started Yashoda as a small facility in Somajiguda Prior to this during his

stint of eight years in Iran Dr Rao was exposed to management of large hospitals and

had the opportunity to work with international medical experts After this he

successfully completed his pediatrics post graduation and started his own private

proactive at Dilsukhnagar Hyderabad Within a short span his practice picked up

very well and he was a leading pediatrician in Hyderabad Encouraged by the success

in the profession he planned his first venture- Yashoda Hospital at Somajiguda

Hyderabad in 1989

In the 90s the 200-bed somajiguda hospital saw a significant growth

Encouraged by the success DrRao started the second facility His brother

DrGRavender Rao who is currently the managing director of the group was a

pivotal support all the time playing a vital role in every step of expansion After that

came the Malakpet set-up in 1995 a super-specialty hospital followed by a third

facility at secunderabad in 2003 The secunderabad hospital is considered the largest

in AP The efforts of the two brothers paid off when Yashoda Hospital became the

first Hospital Group in AP to have 1000 beds450 doctors and 60 specialties

From 25 doctors and 80 nurses today it has employs more than 450 doctors

History

A movement called lsquoCARErsquo took birth in the year 1997 when Padmashri Dr B

Soma Raju led a team of medical professionals to set up the first CARE Hospital It

opened a new chapter in the history of health care The driving force of Compassion

Concern Care coupled with single minded objective - the recovery of the patient is

been the fountainhead of inspiration Today within a span of 10 years CARE has

emerged as the leading name in health care and has earned a reputation for

humanitarian and selfless service But most importantly CARE has the undivided

faith of millions

The origins of CARE can be traced to 1983 when a team of cardiologists led

by Padmashri Dr B Soma Raju set up a synergy for professional excellence in the

cardiology department of the Nizamrsquos Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in

Hyderabad The idea was to propel the cardiology department into one of the top

centers in the country The synergy gave momentum to the purpose and accelerated

the birth of CARE 13 years later The team collaborated with scientists to make

healthcare affordable through the development of indigenous medical technologies It

was the development of Indiarsquos first coronary stent (Kalam-Raju stent) that inspired

the creation of CARE Hospital in 1997 to nurture a model that makes quality medical

care affordable and accessible

At the outset CARE earned accolades and appreciation from one and all for

its expertise in heart care It continues to set new benchmarks not only in heart care

but also expanded its horizons by becoming a leading Multi-specialty Health Care

Since its inception CARE has crossed many milestones It has become one of

the very few hospital chains to have crossed these many milestones in such a short

period CARE has become a yardstick for many hospital chains when it comes to the

landmarks crossed This section will detail the milestones crossed by CARE

1997 Set up a 100-bedded heart institute at Nampally with a core team of 20

cardiologists one operation theatre and a catheterization laboratory

1998 Set up a 100-bedded Heart Institute at Nampally with a core team of 20


1999 Upgraded Nampally hospital and expanded to 135 beds with advanced medical

equipment

Set up a 32-bedded cardiac care centre at Secunderabad

2000 Set up a 75-bedded cardiac care centre at Vishakapatnam

CARE Foundation received Defence Technology Spin-off Award from the Prime

2001 Expanded the nampally facility to 200 beds and upgraded the operation theatres

to world class facilities

Set up lsquothe Institute of Neurosciencesrsquo in Hyderabad in October

2002 Padmashri awarded to Dr B Soma Raju the founder of CARE in January

Indiarsquos first V-SAT based Public-Private Telemedicine system launched by the

the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Netaji Subhas Open

University (NSOU) and the National Board of Examination

A physician Assistants (PA) program that commenced in 2003 received an
