The city of Rome was founded 2700 years ago on the

banks of the Tiber river.

Around the eight century, a group of Latine and Sabine sheperds founded a village on the Palatin hill, near the Tiber River. Rome was born out of these villages.

Romolus and Remus were two brothers wich grew up by shewolf which looked after them.

When Romolus and Remus grew up, they built a city on a hill by the River Tiber.

Both twins wanted to be the king of Rome. A day, the twins fighted for to became a king of Rome.

Romolus killed Remus and he became the first King of Rome. This is supposed to be how Rome got its name.

RELIGION

The Romans had many Gods. The most important Gods to the Romans were the Greek Gods who lived on a mountain called Olympus. They built many temples for to pray their Gods.

Apollo: was the god of the sun.

Venus: was the goddess of love.

Minerva: was the goddess of hunting.

Juno: was a wife of Jupiter and she was the goddess of women and marriage.

Jupiter: was a king of gods.

Neptune: was a god of the sea and he rappresented with a trident.

THE ROMAN SOCIAL CLASSES

Patricians: were nobles. They had a lot of land and privileges. Plebeians: were working class of ancient Rome. They were atisans, farmer and merchants. Slaves: they had not no rights and they were a prisoners of war.

He is wearing: mettalic helmet, red tunic, sword, shield and leather sandals. On the shield there was an eagle and it was curved round the body. It made of plywood or leather.

Roman soldier was very strong, he marched over 20 miles a day with heavy things to carry. He carried equipment such as tents, food, cooking pots and weapons as well as wearing all his armour.

The Colosseum is a big amphitheatre in Rome.

It is the most famous ancient Roman monument in the world.

It is original name was Flavian Amphitheatre.

The Romans used the Colosseum for animal combats and contests with gladiators.

The Romans had a three meals a day.

For breakfast they ate: bread, honey and dates.

For lunch they ate: fish, col meat, bread and vegetables.

The dinner was a principal meal of day. They, usually, ate:

meat, fish, vegetables and birds hunting.

For drinks had wine an water.

The Romans did not sit on chairs around the table like we do today.

The Romans ate with their fingers and they used spoons, only, for soup.

The poor Romans ate simple meal(vegetables and porridge); The rich Romans ate elaborate dinner
