Welcome to the twelfth annual Gala of the Lycée
Français de New York. Thank you for joining us
tonight as we celebrate our 75th Anniversary,
advancing the Lycée’s mission to support our
children’s education today and for the future.
Gala 2011 illustrates our dedication to providing
the best possible education in a multilingual and
multicultural environment in which we blend a
rigorous academic curriculum with a special attention
to our students’ creative development.
Tonight, we honor Anne Sinclair, noted journalist,
with the Charles de Ferry de Fontnouvelle Award. As
a leader in the world of news media, Anne Sinclair
demonstrates the qualities of investigation, discovery,
and insight which we hope to impart to our children.
In addition, Anne Sinclair’s professional and personal
life spans both the French and American cultures
further exemplifying the rich diversity and experience
found at the Lycée.
On behalf of the Lycée Français de New York
community, we would like to thank Anne Sinclair for
supporting our school as we continue to grow with
over 1,350 students and 50 different nationalities.
We would also like to thank our Gala Co-Chairs:
Camille Bidermann-Roizen, Véronique Gabai-Pinsky,
Agathe Lerolle, Kelly Rutherford and the Gala
Committee for their dedication and hard work in
making Gala 2011 a memorable and successful
Lycée community celebration.
Bienvenue au 12ème gala annuel du Lycée Français
de New York.
New York, nous voudrions remercier Mme Sinclair

Anne Sinclair is a French television and radio interviewer,
who hosted one of the most popular political shows for
more than thirteen years on TF1, the largest European
private television channel. She also covered the 2008
American Presidential Campaign for the leading French
Sunday paper, Le Journal du Dimanche, and the French
television channel Canal +.
Born in New York in 1948, Anne Sinclair studied in France.
She graduated in Politics from Sciences-Po Paris Institute of
Political Studies and in Law from the University of Paris. After
graduation, Anne Sinclair’s first radio hosting job was at Europe
1, one of the leading nationwide radio networks. But it is on
television that she gained national prominence and became
recognized as one of the premier journalists of France.
In 1984, she created and hosted 7/7, a weekly Sunday
evening broadcast news and political show on TF1, with
10 to 12 million viewers weekly – a record number for a
political program in Europe. She became one of the most
renowned French journalists, and conducted more than
500 interviews over the course of her show’s thirteen
year run. She won four Sept d’Or, the French equivalent
of the Emmy Awards.
She then created the internet subsidiary company for
her former employer TF1 and ran it for four years before
returning to journalism. In 2003, she launched a cultural
radio program, called Libre Cours (Free Rein) on France
Inter, the French equivalent of NPR.
She also wrote several political bestsellers: DEUX OU
TROIS CHOSES QUE JE SAIS D’EUX (Grasset, 1997) and
CAMÉRA SUBJECTIVE (Grasset, 2003).
Anne Sinclair lives in Washington D.C. with her husband,
Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Managing Director of the
International Monetary Fund since November 2007.
In October 2008, she launched a blog, called TWO OR
THREE THINGS FROM AMERICA, which comments daily
on American and international political news, and has
become one of the top twelve political French blogs.
She is also working on her latest book about American
political life.

The Charles de Ferry de Fontnouvelle Award was named after Count Charles de Ferry de Fontnouvelle, founding president of the Lycée Français de New York. This award was established ten years ago to honor those individuals who have made significant contributions to the French-American community.
Count Charles de Ferry de Fontnouvelle was born in 1877 on the Ile d’Oléron. A French citizen, he always felt a special affinity for the United States where he spent numerous years with the French Foreign Service, as Consul in Chicago and Consul General in New York. During this period, Charles de Ferry de Fontnouvelle contributed to the French-American community in an exemplary manner, establishing the Lycée Français de New York and becoming its first President, and serving in that capacity until his death in 1956. Charles de Ferry de Fontnouvelle was an Officier de la Légion d’Honneur, a past President of the New York Society of Foreign Consuls, and an honorary member of the New York Society of the Cincinnati Diplomats.
We would like to acknowledge Cartier’s kind donation of the night’s award to our honoree, for the seventh consecutive year. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.

JULES AUDEMARS EXTRA-THIN
The new Jules Audemars Extra-thin watch is equipped with the famous 2120 movement measuring just 2.45 millimeters thick. Developed by the Manufacture Audemars Piguet in 1967, this calibre is considered by many specialists as “the world’s most beautiful self-winding
movement.” Our watchmakers have lavished extreme care on the finishing and decoration, including on the surfaces that remain hidden from sight. You can even choose to personalize the oscillating weight of the winding system – exactly the kind of detail true connoisseurs will appreciate.
Pink gold case, silvered or black dial, pink gold hands and hour-markers.
