GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGESince the election, I’m often

asked how the results will affect WyomingPBS. We have always enjoyed strong support from our state and national elected officials. I believe that will continue into the future. No one knows what position President-elect Trump will take on public broadcasting. However, Vice President-elect Pence was awarded the “Champion of Public Broadcasting” award in 2014 by “America’s Public Television Stations”

for his support of public broadcasting as Governor of Indiana. So I remain hopeful.

We’ll be visiting Jackson and Lander this month for special screenings of “Highpointers.” The details are below my column. I urge you to come out and meet the charming stars of the program, Mackenzie Scurka and Fallon Rowe.

It’s our December Membership Festival, so you’ll see some very special “specials!” If you missed the premiere of “The Drift” in November, you can watch it on December 4 or 7. But we also have two new local productions premiering. “Wyoming Chronicle” has a 90-minute “Holiday Special” produced at the University of Wyoming. Chronicle also has a new program, produced with the Wyoming chapter of AARP, which looks at “Senior Ready Communities.” Like all of our local programs, these were produced through the generous support of the Members of WyomingPBS.

Station HappeningsWyomingPBS will be hosting screenings of the documentary “Highpointers” December 14 at 7pm in Lander and December 15 at 6pm in Jackson. “Highpointers” is a warmly-told family film which introduces the little known sport of “highpointing,” a quirky American hobby for nature lovers and climbers. Stars of the film Mackenzie Scurka and Fallon Rowe will particpate in a panel dis-cussion following the screenings to talk about the challenges they met when they summited Wyoming’s Gannett Peak,.

Wyoming Chronicle continues its holiday tradition of bringing beautiful music of the season to our viewers. This year, we travel to the high plains of Laramie for wonderful Christmas performances from the orchestras and choirs at the University of Wyoming.

Dec. 2 - ICEE - Archaeology, Environmental Science, and Outdoor Education students from Central Wyoming College on the Interdisciplinary Climate Change Expedition (ICCE) researched various hydrological aspects of the glacier and high mountain environment including human occupations of the area during the last twelve thousand years. Their lab? The Dinwoody Glacier near Gannett Peak in Wyoming’s Wind River Range.

Dec. 9 - Pets and the Holidays - Wyoming Chronicle visits with veterinarian Dr. Amy Stockton and learns how we can make the holidays less stressful for our furry friends.

Dec. 16 - Senior Ready Communities- In partnership with AARP Wyoming, Wyoming Chronicle looks at how Wyoming communities are actively planning to improve community infrastructure to support Wyoming’s older citizens.

Dec. 23 - 52 Cups of Coffee - When Gillette native Megan Gebhart graduated college, she challenged herself to have a single cup of coffee with a different person every week for a year to see what lessons she could learn about life and careers.

Dec. 30 - The Photography of David J. Bell - David Bell, one for the foremost nature photographers in the region, talks about his work.

On a special evening in 1983, the late leg-endary “father of rockabilly” Carl Perkins and a cast of all-stars brought down the house in a rollicking jam session with hits like “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Honey Don’t.” The special has been remastered in HD.

This music special showcases the best of the New England holiday season with

the Boston Pops and Tanglewood Festival Chorus, under the direction of Keith
