MissionBEDS Plus helps vulnerable individuals stabilize their lives through housing and supportive services.

EVERYONE deserves a home. At BEDS Plus we are focused on the services that put people on the road home. We provide emergency overnight shelters, daytime support centers, rapid rehousing assistance, and transitional and permanent supportive housing facilities to address homelessness and its threat at every level.

ServicesThe foundation of our program is individualized case management within three areas:

• Prevention & Stabilization, including rental and utility assistance, family case management and a transitional housing program, LATH.

• Emergency Services, including street outreach and ten months of rotating overnight emergency shelter in partnership with local faith communities

• Supportive Housing, including short- and long-term project based and scattered site permanent housing coupled with intensive case management.

We also offer supportive services in the areas of employment, health and behavioral health, and financial education. Our strong network of partners allows us to deliver specialized care to particular populations, including families, victims of family violence and veterans.

Notable Accomplishments• Ogden Avenue Supportive Housing opened in March 2018, bringing a five-year

goal to realization. All 20 units are occupied; 8 residents are veterans.

• LaGrange Area Transitional Housing transferred to BEDS Plus ownership in December 2017. Families with a child who has a disability have been placed in each of the four units with the goal of moving to permanent housing.

• BEDS Plus expanded its health care program with the addition of an registered nurse to coordinate client medical care.

• Twenty new units were added to our scattered site permanent supportive housing stock.

• Significantly expanded access to homeless prevention efforts and family case management.

Every day, hundreds of Cook County residents do not know where they will spend the night. They include veterans, domestic violence victims, single-parent

families, the working poor, those with disabilities, those experiencing mental

illness, addiction, and other vulnerable people.

We welcome them back home.

• In 1988, La Grange area religious leaders founded Building Ecumenical Discipleship through Shelter (BEDS) in response to the increasing number of area homeless. We have grown from a local shelter network into a PROFESSIONAL SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCY.

• In the past six years (2012-18), we have helpd more than 4,000 PEOPLE.

• We rely on MORE THAN 1,500 ANNUAL VOLUNTEERS. They do everything from serve meals at shelters to help us develop strategic plans.

• We partner with DOZENS OF HEALTHCARE AND SOCIAL SERVICE PROVIDERS to ensure we can meet our clients’ unique needs.

• We receive a HEALTHY MIX OF FUNDING from public sources, private foundations, civic and faith-based organizations, local businesses and corporations, and generous individuals.
