PROGRAM GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The Goals of nursing program are to:· Equip nursing graduates with knowledge, skills, clinical competencies

and attitude required to deliver safe and quality nursing care to patients, families and community�

· Prepare nursing graduates to function professionally within interdisciplinary teams in variety of settings, and meet the health care needs in Saudi Arabia�

· Provide the students with learning environment that is safe and high quality to emphasize on lifelong learning, critical thinking, informatics, patient-centered care and leadership�

· Foster students’ participation in community services and research concurrent with ethical standards�

PROGRAM MISSIONThe mission of Nursing Program is: ‘To prepare qualified graduates in nursing profession according to the national educational standards who are able to provide quality care, participate in scientific research and contribute to community services’�

الغرض الرئيس من تدريس هذا المقرر هو ما يلي:

توضيح أخالقيات ومواثيق المهن الصحية، وواجبات ممارسيها البينية والمجتمعية، وتأثير المرض على أهلية اإلنسان، ورخص المريض والطبيب في العبادات، وريادة

األطباء المسلمين، وتنظيم المؤسسات الطبية وخدماتها في الحضارة اإلسالمية، وصلة المقاصد الشرعية بالتخصصات الطبية.

وإعداد الطالب ليكتسب أخالق اإلسالم المهنية، والقواعد الفقهية الصحية، ويعكسها كآداب، وأحكام، وثقافة تنفيذ على التعامل مع طالب الخدمة الصحية

بصفة عامة، ومع المريض بصفة خاصة.

يشتمل هذا المقرر على ثالثة أقسام رئيسة، وهي كالتالي:

األخالق بين الدين والعمل: ويتناول تأصيل مفهوم األخالق، وتحديد صلتها باإلسالم، واإليمان، والعبادات، والمعامالت، وعالقة الحسبة بالجودة الشاملة، وأخالق المهن

الصحية.

والمبادئ الصحية في الفكر اإلسالمي: ويقدم تفسيرا للرؤية الشرعية لدراسة الطب، وللمرض، والصحة، ويبرز التخصصات الصحية، والمنهج العلمي لدى العلماء

المسلمين،

واألسس الشرعية للمهن الصحية: ويعد هذا القسم تخصصيا مهنيا صحيا بحتا، يؤهل المنتسب للقطاع الصحي ليكون ملتزما باألحكام الشرعية في ممارسة

تخصصه، وملما بالقضايا واألحكام المتعلقة بفقه األطباء والمرضى.

B. Objectives

1� What is the main purpose for this course?

The main purpose of this course is to prepare nursing students for acquiring theoretical knowledge and clinical competencies in nursing leadership and management necessary for professional nursing practice�

C. Course Description

This course is an introduction to the theory and practice of nursing leadership and management� The course emphasizes core nursing leadership and management concepts, principles, and competencies such as critical thinking, effective communication, conflict management, successful delegation, team building, controlling resources, improving quality, managing stress, leading change, and managing human resources� The practice component of the course focuses on integrate knowledge about the activities, roles, and responsibilities of the nurse managers/leaders and to enable students to practice conceptual, technical, and interpersonal management and leadership skills� The clinical part also provides opportunities for students to translate theory into practice and to build their capacity to influence care delivery and patient care outcomes�

1� What is the main purpose for this course?

This course gives students opportunities to appreciate the research methods used to address different clinical questions that may arise from practice and teach them to search for relevant research and apply critical appraisal strategies to determine the quality of the research�

C. Course Description

This course focuses on the cyclical process of identifying clinical questions, searching and appraising the evidence for potential solutions, evaluating the outcomes and identifying additional gaps in nursing knowledge� In addition, the course includes the importance of improving patient outcome through proper clinical decision making process based on existing evidence, clinical judgment and patient preference�

The purpose of this course is to integrate the concepts of behavioral and biological sciences into community health nursing practice, in order to serve the needs of communities and diverse populations� In addition, discuss the role of community health nurses in meeting the emerging needs of the individual, families, communities and population�

C. Course Description

This course includes foundation knowledge in considering the community as a client� Also this course focuses on necessary skills to assess and critically analyze the risk aggregates and communities that help to identify, prioritize and plan culturally sensitive, competent care� In addition, it provides theory essential to apply nursing process and epidemiological approach in caring for individuals, families and community�

· Performance of all required nursing services and tasks at the training settings within the framework of students’ training as described in the Training Logbook under the direct supervision and guidance of the hospital preceptors� These activities include:

• Perform complete physical assessment of patients

• Formulate nursing care plan according to service users’ needs and problems

• Perform medication calculations and administration under direct preceptor’s supervision

• Participate in clinical training activities, seminars, conferences, and assigned training tasks by hospital administration body�

• Involve in routine nursing-work schedules such as handover, supplies, documentations, procedures, emergency-task assignments, and management tasks�

• Conduct educational sessions for clients and families under supervision as directed by clinical in charge staff members�

• Attend nursing division regular meeting�

• Participate in hospital community services�

• Apply basic, intermediate and advanced nursing skills under supervision according to agreed internship guidelines�

• List required assignments, projects, and reports�

• Written clinical reports (Nursing notes- Nursing care plan)
