MAIN FACULTY
Mr. Nivas Vallavan
Mr. Nivas Vallavan is a research scholar at Institute for Energy Studies, Chennai. He is also a consultant for a few companies in Chennai and Bangalore where he is working on designing Solar Plants of various ca-pacities. He has designed plants from kW to 1 MW. He has also conducted various training programs on EPC, Re-search on Solar, Solar Simulation Softwares etc.
Mr. N R Rao
Mr. N R Rao has been associated with solar photovoltaic industry for more than 30 years. He has success-fully headed a Solar P V Modules and BOS component Manufacturing and Systems Integration Company in the Middle East for 20 years. Under his leadership, the company has designed, installed and commis-sioned several challenging projects for Telecom, Oil & Gas Industry, Defense and other Government or-ganizations in different countries. In Saudi Arabia, he worked as an Electrical Engineer for Saudi Arabian National Centre for Science and Technology. During this period he was actively involved in the 100 million dollar Solar Energy Research Program (1980 – 86) between United States and Saudi Arabia. Under this program, the World’s first 350 KW Concentrated Photovoltaic Power Plant with 3.4 Megawatts of D G capacity having standalone / hy-brid / grid interactive modes of operation feeding power to three remote villages near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia was installed. The plant with the advanced technology is fully computer controlled with data acquisition sys-tem recording real time data for research. He was actively involved in installation, operation and mainte-nance of the plant. He worked closely with several International Organizations and co-authored and pre-sented technical papers in International Seminars. He was actively involved in the establishment of Solar Energy Laboratory and trained young Engineers / Technicians. In India as an independent consultant, he has designed, installed and commissioned the country’s first grid connected rooftop P V Power Plant (5 KW Peak) for Engineering Staff College of India. He has also in-stalled several P V Systems for BHEL and CEL. As a consultant to Engineering Staff Collage of India, he has conducted training programs in Solar P V Technology for Managers and Engineers. He is presently engaged as Technical Advisor / Project Consultant to companies in PV industry. He is an Electrical Engineering graduate from JNTU Hyderabad and formerly worked with South Central Railway and A P State Electricity Board.
