A STUDIO EAST Theater Production PROGRAM Welcome to StoryBook Theater’s 22nd season of musicals for young audiences. We are very excited because we get to share with you one of our favorite shows, The Frog Prince. Now, about The Frog Prince: In this show we talk (and sing!) about making and keeping promises. What is a promise? In our story, Princess-Honey promises the frog that she will take him home with her, but then she changes her mind. The Frog Prince needs her to do what she has promised and to learn to trust him – for only then can he be magically changed back into a human being. Is it so wrong to change your mind and not do what you’ve promised you’d do? Well, yes, it is, and let me tell you one reason why. People depend on us to do what we say we will do, whether those things are large or small. If we do what we’ve said we will do, if we keep our promises, then we become someone who can be trusted. A person who can be trusted has many wonderful opportunities in life, many chances to have real friendships where trust is an important part of that friendship. Like Princess-Honey and the Frog Prince, we need to be very careful about making and keeping promises so that we can make and keep good friends! Enjoy the show! Welcome to StoryBook Theater’s 22nd season of musicals for young audiences.

My Favorite Part of the Frog Prince:

StoryBook Theater is produced by Studio East Training for the Performing Arts, based in Kirkland. Studio East, now in its 27th season, works to create opportunities for young people to discover and explore the performing arts. StoryBook Theater serves this mission by introducing over 45,000 patrons each year to live theater for young audiences. We believe that exposing children to the arts at an early age fosters creativity, validates different ways of seeing the world, and demonstrates creative outlets for expressing emotions.

Studio East’s many performing arts training programs – after school and homeschool classes and workshops, productions and classes at area schools, school break and summer camps, and Mainstage productions – focus on nurturing responsibil-ity, creativity, and compassion in the youth of our community. We believe that young people who practice the discipline and dedication required by the art and craft of theater develop life skills that will serve them throughout their lives, no matter what career they pursue.
